Features : Pableaux Marlee Perfects Hip Hop Street Metaphors in Debut Project, “Writer’s Block”

LAKE CHARLES, LA - Growing up in the Sunlight Manner Projects on the northside of Lake Charles, Pableaux Marlee is a product of his environment - but not a captive. Marlee has pulled himself out of the ‘hood to become an example of hard work, determination, and inner strength - one bar at a time.

“Where I came from, my environment, and what I’ve seen growin’ up, most people in the rap and hip-hop game haven’t seen this kind of thing,” said Marlee. “It’s different everywhere, and there’s violence and poverty. Everybody’s got a different story to tell, and this is mine.”

As a versatile rapper, Marlee adjusts his style and flow, his Louisiana-style flow, according to the beat. “Whatever way the beat swings me, the vibe, and how the beat taps me into my feelings, is the I swing,” he said.

While Marlee is a newcomer to the hip-hop scene, he is perfecting his skills to include trap, drill, R&B, jazz, and soul. He truly is a well-rounded artist.

Known throughout the Lake Charles area, Marlee jumped into the industry on the recent mixtape, “QueMarlee,” a tag team release with Que Money. The 11-track collection dropped in January, serving as Marlee’s debut featuring his signature features and hooks.

Now he is ready to take the next step and release his first solo project, “Writer’s Block.” The EP is packed with wordplay and what Marlee refers to as street metaphors, “I call it street metaphors because somebody that went through the same things as me can understand it.”

Explaining “Writer’s Block,” Marlee said, “It fuels fans to see a side of me and take my lyrics and rap to get the motivation to start their day. I’m giving them a side of me. Millions had an upbringing up like me.”

The EP will drop in the spring with the single “Anti-Social,” featuring Hooligan released in the coming weeks, produced by I Mean Dat Entertainment. “The song is me comin’ into the game and being waist-deep in the game and looking out for my people,” he explained. “It’s me being anti-social and trying to get myself together to help the people around me who are helping me to get where I’m going.”

Admitting that impressions, especially first impressions, can last a lifetime, Marlee knows that people’s first reaction to his solo EP might be their last impression they have of him. The world needs to buckle up if that is true because Marlee is busting out on the hip-hop scene.

“When you grow up and don’t know right from wrong, and then you really grow up and see your mistakes, that is what I write about,” he said. “I came from nothin’, and hard work paid off. Ain’t nothin’ that can’t be done, and maybe I can change a couple of lives with my music.”
