Features : Hip-Hop Sensation Young Prophet Lights Up The Dance Floor

“Most of my music you can dance to because it allows you to dance out your pain,” shares the artist of the drive behind his work. Young Prophet turns to music as “a weapon to avenge the death of his brother, Gene,” and as a way to bring light to the world. “My vision is to make people feel better about what they’re going through,” says Young Prophet. “Everything in my music is true—it comes from real-life experiences. I want to prevent people from going through what I went through growing up,” explains the artist.

When it comes to writing music, Young Prophet has an established process. “I have to find a beat first and then fill the beat. I don’t just rap to any beat.” For some songs, it takes hours to find the right sound; for others, it can take days. “I have to be able to vibe with it and fill it emotionally,” explains the rapper. By picking the right instrumentals for his sound, Young Prophet is able to truly connect with his music and drive home the messages he wants listeners to receive.  After all, the artist lives for music—”I do music 24 hours a day. Music is what I live for.”

Beyond creating his own music, Young Prophet also has his own record label that is co-owned with other artists who are “there to support and push me,” according to the rapper. “I’m proud of being able to start opening up. I’m not a people person. I want to get on target and help people out at the same time I work at my dream.”

This summer, Young Prophet is planning to perform his catalogue while releasing new singles. At the moment, he has about 30 more songs ready to go. It’s just a matter of time before listeners can enjoy them. Be sure to stay tuned—the best is yet to come.
