Up-and-coming artist, Eighty 9ine—also known as AD—starts 2023 with the release of his long-awaited second mixed tape, UNAPPRECIATED.

UNAPPRECIATED is a showcase of Eighty 9ine’s versatility and delivers diverse rap flows, unparalleled energy, and lyrical mastery. The mixtape features a diverse collection of pop, soft rock, rap, R&B, and hip hop. Of the variety, Eighty 9ine’s favorite tracks include “Tonight,” a soft rock song, and “Major,” featuring Skuuta D’Rula and Tyronebee.  After a stint in prison that delayed the release of his mixtape, Eighty 9ine immediately released “Major” to great review.

“My music is complex,” shares Eighty 9ine. “I’m a bit of a storyteller. No matter how simple it may sound, there’s a story in there.” Described as a lyrical genius by his manager, Eighty 9ine knows how to weave storyline through different genres.

As a child, the young Eighty 9ine was surrounded by music. His older brother was a signed artist, and Eighty 9ine was a devoted learner. He quickly decided that music was his passion and would eventually become a way of life. Eighty 9ine transformed his life experience into music that resonates with many listeners. “My music is a turning point,” shares Eighty 9ine. For the artist, music is a method of overcoming the past and turning it into a learning lesson.

The Harlem native released his debut mixtape B 4 I G O in 2020 with plans to unveil his second in July of 2021. Unfortunately, life’s challenges delayed the release of his second project, which listeners can now enjoy. His first mixtape garnered the attention of well-known rappers including Jada Kiss, Juelz Santana, and Benzino. Eighty 9ine incorporated the feedback he received from peers in order to create the 9-track UNAPPRECIATED.

When it comes time to write his music, Eighty 9ine often develops the concept first. With his manager, they will search for the right beat to fit the intended vibe. Then he will focus on the rhythm, adding words and a storyline shortly after. Overall, it’s a quick writing process for Eighty 9ine, who is accustomed to writing for other artists.

This year, Eighty 9ine looks forward to sharing his newest mixtape with listeners. He is also focusing on shooting music videos in the new few weeks before shifting to a 5-city tour in the upcoming future. Further down the line, don’t be surprised to see Eighty 9ine trying his hand at acting and developing a clothing line and merchandise—both are goals he plans to work toward moving forward.

Make sure to stay connected to Eighty 9ine on all platforms for new music, videos, and social posts.
