Multicultural musician TheMahfuzR delivers a sentimental single long in the making: “Photograph Book.” With a memorable tune and honest vocals, “Photograph Book” is a melodic walk down memory lane that brings up different memories for each listener. Simple yet touching, the single is worthy of a movie soundtrack.

“It’s a story of a person reminiscing sadly at signs that a significant other is leaving,” shares TheMahfuzR. “We all have troubles in life—thinking, ‘what could I have done differently to prevent this?’ It’s always comforting when someone else is going through a similar situation so you can share notes and talk. I like to help people. If this song means something to someone or helps them, then that’s my reward as a musician.”

“The song was written by a friend of mine and I harmonized on it when we originally recorded back in 1985 in Bangladesh. It sat for 30 years untouched,” shares the artist. “When I came to the U.S. in 1992, life happened and I couldn’t find the time to do something with it. But it’s a beautiful song—it’s stuck with me forever and people enjoy it. When I moved from Michigan to California, I knew I needed to get it done.” TheMahfuzR eventually finished “Photograph Book” in a recording studio with musician Chris Barkley. After lyrical alterations and an updated bridge, the song was ready to be shared—finally.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh to an engineer father and professor mother, TheMahfuzR went on to study physics, computer engineering, and business administration, followed by work as an automotive engineer for many years. Beyond his academic work, TheMahfuzR has always been a musician. “I am a musician. It’s a passion of mine. I come from a long line of musicians from my grandmother to my mom. My family has always supported me as a performer. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while,” shares the artist.

With a background in vocal training in South Asian (Bengali) classical music, TheMahfuzR later studied guitar, keyboard, and the tabla. When it comes to musical taste, the multicultural musician also loves English music from Pink Floyd to Dire Straits. Over the years, TheMahfuzR has continued singing Bengali pop music, English soft rock, and pop songs in bands and as a solo artist. He has also participated in America’s Got Talent, The X-Factor, and The Voice. His passion also extends to acting—from short and feature films to commercials and voiceovers, TheMahFuzR has his hands full and ready to take on more.

For TheMahfuzR, creating music is more than a passion—it’s a way of giving back and creating a space for people to relate. “It’s not a happy song by any means—it’s a sad song—but that’s how it is. If it can help someone in some way, that would be good,” adds TheMahfuzR. “Research says music goes to all parts of the brain. I enjoy that it takes me to a different world. If I can produce something to give someone enjoyment, why not?”

“Photograph Book” is TheMahfuzR’s first publicly released single. The artist is excited to share he has more music “in the pipeline” and will announce their intended release down the line.
