Brooklyn drill rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow have been arrested on conspiracy charges as part of a sprawling 140-count indictment spanning multiple NYC gangs.

According to theNew York Post, Sheff G (Michael Williams) and Sleepy Hallow (Tegan Chambers) were among the 32 members of 8 Trey Crips and neighboring 9 Ways hit with charges ranging from murder to weapons, kidnapping, assault and conspiracy.

The acts of violence allegedly took place from March 2019 to the present day. Prosecutors believe Sheff G used his rap checks to pay for hits and fueled gun violence across the city in exchange for money, lavish dinners, jewelry and more.

“Instead of using his fame and his fortune for the betterment of himself and his family and those close to him, we allege that he used that fame and fortune to elevate gang violence in Brooklyn,” District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said at a press conference.

“Sheff G became a prominent member of this gang and became central to our investigation. Sheff G used a lot of the money that he earned to facilitate further gang activity. He encouraged gang members to participate in violent crimes.”

Sheff G was already behind bars on a two-year bid on gun possession charges and was denied early release by a parole board in November. He was brought to Brooklyn Supreme Court flanked by authorities on Tuesday (May 16) to be taken up on the new conspiracy charges.

Prosecutors allege that Sheff G treated members of the 8 Trey Crips gang to an expensive steakhouse dinner in October 2020 just days after they ambushed rival Folk Nation in a shooting that left one dead and multiple others injured.

They also claim that Sheff G was the getaway driver in an April 2021 shooting that targeted a rival as a pair of bystanders were also struck in the crossfire.

As for Sleepy, the rapper was released from jail in February after serving nearly eight months behind bars on a weapons charge.

The District Attorney’s Office believes those indicted were part of carrying out 27 acts of violence over the last four years and used about 37 firearms in the process while 19 have since been recovered by law enforcement.

“We focus on the small number of extremely violent people who have made up their minds that they will continue to do violence no matter what happens,” Mayor Eric Adams said added.

“Doesn’t matter if they reach fame and fortune, they’re going to use their fame and fortune to enhance their ability to access dangerous guns. We’re not going to surrender our streets to violence.”
