NEW JERSEY–On YK Cashout’s debut standalone single, “Nothin’ Like Me” the east coast rapper, currently based in New Jersey, is declaring a self-assured statement to listeners as a hard hitting intro to his music: That YK Cashout is unique, his life experience has shown it, and the self-explanatory element of the track’s title—there’s no one like him.

“I'm basically saying there's no one like me, and I'm just talking about things in my life that I experience differently,” says the rapper, who produced the standalone single in his home studio with producer Mirsfortune.

The 18-year-old rapper comes from hip-hop roots, growing up with a father who had also made music. But growing up in New Jersey, closer to Philadelphia than New York City, had not inspired his sound. YK Cashout looks to what the south has to say, with Atlanta artists such as Lil’ Baby paving his path.

“I gained a lot of inspiration from Atlanta artists. One of my biggest inspirations is Lil Baby. My style is more of an Atlanta kind of thing,” he explains. His music reflects that style, mixing melodic bars and trap beats on “Nothin’ Like Me."

“I can get inspiration from anything like a movie, or hear a certain sound or something, anything I'm kind of feeling in the moment,” says the rapper and producer. “I just get inspired by anything. I make a lot of beats in one night or sometimes I'm not inspired. It all depends on how I'm feeling.”

While there are no album plans for YK Cashout just yet, he plans to gradually release more standalone singles, “Change On Me” and “Lords Awakening,” are next to be released—showing that a fresh face on the hip-hop front can bring both hard work and melodic steez to the industry.
