Unr8d N8v, an artistic composer specializing in Rap, unleashes his latest powerhouse single, “Flip.” Bringing back the nostalgic vibes of the early chopper sound that emerged from the Mid-West in the 90s, Unr8d N8v dazzles with his sophisticated rhyming scheme, skillfully delivering triple-time bars over an electrifying industrial beat. A proud member of the Chickasaw Nation, “Flip” explores anecdotes from Unr8d’s personal life while also serving as a reflection of his American indigenous culture and heritage.
The lyrics came to him during a difficult season in his life and ultimately became a mantra and reminder that he can overcome any obstacle in his path. With the summer still in full swing, "Flip" is the perfect addition to your workout playlist, elevating your energy levels and motivating you to push through any barriers that stand in your way.
“I wanted to show how I could ride defeat. When the fire gets to burning, nothing can stop it!” says Unr8d N8v, “I also wanted to show my skills as an MC, how quickly I can articulate lyrics, how perfectly I separate syllables.”
A lyricist and MC, Unr8d incorporates wordplay as he explores the struggle between empathy and self-preservation. In one impressive verse, he showcases masterful alliteration with the letter "P" as he delivers the following lines - "I penetrate the pad with a pen, a profit, the pinnacle, I pray for people though part of me's permanently cynical." This verse, which originated as a freestyle inspired by the track's instrumental, was so striking and tightly crafted that it landed on the final song. Unr8d N8v describes his sound as narrative, melodic chopping – a style deeply rooted in storytelling.
“I tell stories. I compose lyrics and melodies; I can make things fit. I can write a song to 120 beats and reformulate that song to 85 beats per minute,” shared Unr8d N8v on his meticulous and methodical approach to storytelling.
Originally from Oklahoma, Unr8d N8v, whose real name is Gary Lee Guffey, Jr., has been honing his craft since the age of 13. Inspired by his dad, a singer, and fan of classic rock, Unr8d learned about harmonics and harmonies. However, he didn’t discover his niche until a relative introduced him to the app Rock Band. Growing up in the ’90s and early 2000s, Unr8d was inspired by artists like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Guns N’ Roses, and Tech N9ne. It was their proficiency and respect for singing, rhyming, and storytelling that inspired him to pursue his career in music.
Ever the storyteller, even his stage name has deep significance with Unr8d, pronounced "unrated," representing his inability to be quantified; N8v, pronounced “native,” speaking to his cultural heritage; and the number 8, honoring his grandfather and mother, who both passed away in August respectively.
“Flip” is currently available on YouTube, YouSpotify, and iHeart Radio. The next single in the works will delve into heavier themes including his relationship with the law. This summer, prepare to be pumped up and inspired as "Flip" takes you on an adrenaline-fueled musical journey. Stay connected with Unr8d N8v across all platforms for new music, videos, appearances, updates, and more. “Flip” is also available across all social media platforms, including YouTube Shorts, Facebook, Snapchat, Tik Tok, and Instagram.
