With his latest album, the 10-track “Blessings in Disguise,” singer/songwriter CSG Flashy shows a range and versatility that grabs a listener with its sound and reels them in with the emotional lyrics.

“Blessings in Disguise” was released on Aug. 14 and features tracks called “Drown Today,” “Ball Forever,” “You got it,” “Lucky One,” and six others that tell the stories of blessings unrecognized but appreciated after further consideration.

“I call it ‘Blessing in Disguise’ because I feel as though this album was a blessing in disguise,” CSG Flashy said. “And like a lot of things that's happening for me, I don't necessarily notice that it's a blessing. But later on I realized that because of the scenario which happened, it turned into a blessing.”

CSG Flashy, who is originally from New London, Conn., said the album features a variety of genres, some of which might not seem to go together at first.

“This is an album that’s just like no other,” he said. “I worked really hard on this album for more than a year and it has a very unique, very different sound. I pretty much took almost every genre that's popping that's out right now. Like I've got a country song that's on there, I took a country song, I took hip hop, and I made a baby. That's pretty much what I did for all the genres that I dibbled and dabbled in that's on this album.”

“Drown Today,” the second track on the album, is an emotional, hard driving track that features a deep base and a flashy melody that takes the listener on a fast journey through CSG Flashy’s feelings and emotions.

“I picked this one because of the beat,” CSG Flashy said. “It came from a producer named Cheeze, he’s from Russia, and it has a hard-hitting beat. The hook is very catchy, the engineer who mixed this was Caleb, so these two individuals, plus myself, we came up with this product and I think everyone is going to love it, especially if they like to dance or if they like good music in general.”

CSG Flashy said some artists might sneak a filler song into an album, but the songs on “Blessings in Disguise” are all top flight and on point.

“I try to make sure that every song on the album was undeniable, no skips,” he said. “This one is definitely a banger, it's definitely going to be on the charts. I'm not just speaking highly because you know, obviously artists like speak highly of themselves. I'm talking about because of how much work actually be put in and how much focus that I had to put in for this believably sound good. Plus the producer and my engineer, they both made it easy to be a banger.”

When asked to describe his sound, CSG Flashy said he stands out.

“I would say that there's no one like me, there's not one person,” he said. “My style never stays the same. Every song is different. Sometimes I'm sad, sometimes I'm happy, sometimes I mad, sometimes I'm a bunch of other things. So that's how it is with music. So whatever I'm feeling, that's the way that I express myself on a record. And each song is different. I just  pretty much want people to really just enjoy the music. As much as I enjoyed making it, I just want people to enjoy in the way that I do it.”
