From charismatic promoter and evangelist of the club scene to a DJ in his own right, Krizma brings energy and retro house beats to venues across the south. His unique sound—a blend of electro house, indie dance, and progressive house with retro disco/ 80’s and vocals—energizes crowds and keeps them dancing all night.

“Performing brings out something in me. It’s a passionate feeling knowing people love what you’re playing—it’s very rewarding,” shares KRizma. “My love of music and performing helps me bring something out in the crowd, too.”

KRizma’s journey into performance wasn’t the typical path of most DJs. After graduating from Louisiana State University in 1998, KRizma landed his first job in pharmaceutical sales. While his Monday to Friday schedule was reserved for a standard 9-5, it was during the weekends that he came alive. “I had a love for the club scene in South Louisiana and Tampa and Orlando, Florida. My passion for music was mostly 80s and 90s alternative rock. By the late 90s I became a huge fan of breakbeat music that was being played at numerous nightclubs all over Tampa, Orlando, and South Louisiana (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette).

It wasn’t long until KRizma fell in love with the style of breakbeat music featuring 80s remixes with a solid build up and break off. “The energy it provided was spectacular to see in nightclubs across Louisiana and Florida at the time,” adds KRizma. “My first love is old-school Tampa/ Orlando and South Louisiana breakbeat music, but I also have a strong affinity for electro house, progressive house, tech house, and indie dance.”

KRizma went on to develop his own set with the mentorship of a few house DJs and breakbeat DJs that regularly performed at the historic nightclub in New Orleans that he promoted for several years. “I became friends with them, and they taught me how to play,” he explains. “My very first set at Mardi Gras in 2008, I played old-school breakbeat—my first love.” It wasn’t until he played a party at a popular venue after a New Orleans Saints game that KRizma fell in love with the rush of playing to large crowds.

“I didn’t care for house music in the late 90s and early 2000s as I didn’t feel the same energy as breakbeat” explains KRizma. “Interestingly, the guy who trained me to DJ actually was a very popular house DJ in New Orleans in the early 2000s. Around 2006-9, the house music that was coming out started to have more energy and feeling, similar to breakbeat, and I kind of fell in love with it. Times have changed. The crowd now doesn’t know old-school breakbeat unless they’re in a certain age group, so it’s hard to play. But now house is what I do.”

His passion for music and performance catapulted KRizma into the nightclub scene, where he became a dependable promoter for years. “I became the first promoter for one of the hottest nightclubs in New Orleans—that featured two of the top breakbeat DJs from Louisiana—for several years. I even went to Tampa to recruit a local DJ and flew her in for my first party. People from all over New Orleans and other cities in South Louisiana came to that nightclub to party for several years. That first party with the Tampa DJ spearheaded a long ride of many parties that I helped throw at that nightclub from 2001-2012.”

KRizma’s crucial role as promoter led the club to success, acquiring global DJs over the years including the renowned Tiesto, among others. “Not just the breakbeat DJs but the global ones, too, came through, and I was instrumental to the promotion of those parties,” adds the DJ. His dedication also helped secure the club’s resident DJs, drawing crowds from all over.

After a brief hiatus, KRizma is back and ready to bring years of cross-genre experience to the main stage. From rooftop parties in New Orleans to the club scene in Miami, KRizma’s charisma and connection to the crowd empower his brilliant performance at every event. He is also a skilled collaborator who works with resident DJs for an unforgettable night.
