NEW YORK – After years of pouring his passion into the music of others, it’s time for the world of R&B to experience Muzicmaykr.

The first single under his independent label, Credible Witness Ent., LLC, will slide onto digital platforms on his birthday, Oct. 26 in smooth, soulful and poetic fashion. “Where U R” is a romantic prose and perfect introduction to Muzicmaykr – who prides himself on his family and remarkable team who are poised to release music that is “out of the norm” for this genre.

“When we sit down to do our writing sessions, the best way I can describe it is these writers are poetic,” he said. “Our music is lyrically poignant to describe a situation – be it culturally, romantic or in a way of encouragement. We have another song called ‘Keep Going On’ that is for people who suffer and struggle with depression and even suicide – it’s a beautiful song and it’s poetically written. I take pride in this team because of their ability to address subject matter. The production process is rewarding and it’s rich. The material we have is timeless.”

Muzicmaykr – born Curtis Smith of Alabama – was raised in New York and attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and the Arts in Harlem, and made his career in law enforcement. He also invested in his future by attending the Center for the Media Arts in Manhattan with a focus on audio engineering/ record production. Music was always a part of the picture as he was blessed with a musically inclined family. He is well versed in 14 instruments.

“Music is more than what I do, it’s who I am,” he said. “My orchestrations are reflective of my knowledge of the articulations of the instruments.”

He has collaborated with team members from the Grammy Award winning R&B group Blackstreet, Eric Williams and team members Jeremy Hanna and others. His versatile skills in the music industry have equipped him for this moment – and he’s bringing his wife and kids along with him.

“It’s an exciting time,” Muzicmaykr said. “My family has been described as the ‘Empire’ family – we’re musicians and performers – and you’ll hear them all do their thing on the album project. We are both extremely proud of our kids. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Curtis and Cathryn have been married 38 years, and she is a classically trained singer. Their four children – ages 11-36 – all have music experience and unique skillsets from programming to rapping and singing. His music finally has the moment to stretch its wings with its producers collaborating from NY to North Carolina.

Every quarter, Muzicmaykr plans to release a song until late 2024 when he’ll drop his first full 14-track album.

“They will be multi-faceted so give each track a listen, hear the lyrics and find encouragement,” he said. “There’s a message but I’m going to let the music speak for itself.”

Make sure to stay connected to Muzicmaykr on all platforms for new music, videos, and social posts.
