Jimmy Mallia is an up and coming singer songwriter with a Folksy spin on his sound. Drawing from a lifetime worth of highs and lows, this artist’s music lets you dive into his soul and explore the world through his eyes. Most recently, Mallia has been preparing to release his newest single, a track called “Cover Me”.

“Cover Me” is an interesting and explosive track taking you through the mind of a man who just wants to be left alone. It takes on the first person narrative of a man under psychiatric evaluation, someone who just wants to be left right where he is.

“It’s about looking at the world outside and deciding that you are just happy where you are,” Mallia explained. While the song might sound like it has an uplifting narrative, it is actually a heavy somewhat sad story.

“In the song you can hear the sounds of a storm happening outside, I think it’s a great representation of what the song is portraying,” he said. “Going through something like this feels like you’re in the middle of a storm.”

While this song was not written from Mallia’s direct experience, he is no stranger to the world of mental illness. Mallia has his own history of depression, alcoholism and a collection of stories to go with them.

Now in recovery, this musician is also a major piece of his community, doing work to help those suffering from addiction or just in need of a hand up.

“When people listen to this song, I want it to remind them that mental illness is real,” Mallia stated. “It isn’t always something that can be easy to relate to, but that doesn’t make it any less prevalent.”

Following the release of “Cover Me”, Mallia is looking forward to sharing a collection of new songs and personal experiences with his fans. His next upcoming project takes a step away from the heaviness of addiction and mental illness, and dives into a new kind of sadness.

“My next project sort of comes from the question of what it would feel like to lose my mother,” he explained. “She is still in my life, but I think this song lets me explore that feeling while honoring her and all she has given me.” The new track takes on a more ballad-like feel, while still remaining true to Mallia’s creative style.

Along with these upcoming releases, Mallia has so much to offer his community and fans. This is certainly an artist you will want to keep an eye out for.
