Detroit hip-hop artist Marcell Burney, known as “Trippy Cell,” celebrates the release of his latest single, “Trippy Hippies,” now available on all music streaming platforms.

The track’s smooth beat and minimalist production make it the ideal party anthem, whether you are headed to a laid-back gathering or a night out at the club. With its noticeable boom-bap influence, featuring classic drum patterns, crisp snares, and deep kicks, the song evokes a vintage feel reminiscent of early ’90s hip-hop.

“It’s like hip-hop’s nod to the free-spirited vibe of the ’60s, hippies and counterculture. It’s like a blend of that carefree party atmosphere mixed with hip-hop. It’s about letting loose and enjoying life,” said Trippy.

Trippy handles the writing, composing, and mixing of all his music while Play That Back Reed AGM Productions collaborates with him on mastering and overall production needs. For his “Trippy Hippies” music video, which you can catch on YouTube, Trippy devised the concept and teamed up with Cerebral Media Entertainment (@Cerebralsmedia) for the filming and production.

“I’ve been involved with music since I was 13 or 14 but started taking it more seriously around 18 — and not just my music but the business as well,” Trippy continued. “I found out Zaytoven, Gucci Mane’s producer, was offering a class for people to learn about the business side of music. I’m in the class now, and it’s been helping a lot.”

Though “Trippy Hippies” is an independent release, Trippy is cooking up more tracks in the studio, hinting that the single could be part of an upcoming album or mixtape. While national opportunities are on his radar, Trippy is homing in on Detroit’s top R&B and hip-hop stations, including The D’s Hip-Hop & R&B on 97.9 WJLB. Fans should also stay tuned for his new venture, Too Trippie Entertainment, coming soon.

“I do a lot of songs for different people, but it’s gotta be hip-hop, and I do everything from hardcore rap to a mix of hip-hop and R&B. And that’s what I like about this song it speaks to how I show up as an artist — I’m a trippy, hippy kind of artist,” joked Trippy.

Influenced by artists like Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Lil Boosie, Trippy Cell is dedicated to making music that tells real stories while encouraging fans to live life to the fullest.

Whether you’re kicking back with your crew or turning up at the club, “Trippy Hippies” is a must-listen, available now on all streaming platforms. Keep up with Trippy’s latest music, updates, and appearances by following him on Instagram and TikTok.
