Chris Salvatore is an artist in three worlds: music, acting, and modeling. 2024 marks his return to the world of music after a 10-year hiatus and he’s back with music that’s not only more personal but more authentic too. The appropriately titled “Starting Something” marks the beginning of this new era in his music career and is the first step of what’s to come.

The track “Starting Something” was written after Chris went through a break-up. The relationship’s toxicity was the source of inspiration for the track with Chris speaking on how his ex would always be starting arguments. Naturally, this was draining for Chris but at first, he stayed in the relationship anyway. He shared how staying in a relationship that is toxic is a situation - while unfortunate - he hopes many people can relate to.

“It’s about giving up a lot of yourself. And in the end, there's nothing left. You feel like a shell of a person.”

Contrastingly, the song itself is not negative sonically but upbeat and full of musical life. Built from the ground up with a bass line, the track is right at home in the disco genre. The multi-layered production envelops listeners in a mirror ball of fun sounds that get you up and dancing. Chris worked on the track with producer Bart Schoudel who has worked with pop titans like Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Camilla Cabello, and more. To come back to the world of music with someone like this in his corner made releasing “Starting Something” even more exciting for Chris.

Making music that is personal is a huge part of why returning to music at this point in life was so important for Chris. Returning to anything after 10 years is intimidating but doing it after you’ve grown as an individual makes it a little easier. He credits his personal growth as the reason the music he makes now is so much better than what he made before. Now, the music he makes is authentically him.

“I learned so much more about myself in these last 10 years of living life. I feel a lot more personally connected to the music that I write and release.”

The title “Starting Something” carries a double meaning for Chris. It’s the central subject of the song but also, the song itself is the beginning point of this new stage of his music career. With more music on the way, he plans to continue to let his authenticity shine through. He’s ready for the risks that come with jumping back into the music world and is ready to face them head-on.

“Once you start something, whether it’s good or bad, there’s always growth in the end.”
