The Horrors have released their snarling single ‘Trial By Fire’ – just in time for Halloween.
The Southend rock band recently announced a brand new album ‘Night Life’ along with a new lineup. Vocalist Faris Badwan and bassist Rhys Webb remain as founding members, with original guitarist Joshua Hayward and new members Amelia Kidd on keys and Telegram’s Jordan Cook on drums joining.
Now, The Horrors have released their new single ‘Trial By Fire’ today (October 31). The song is taken from ‘Night Life’, which is due on March 21, 2025 via Feature Records.
Speaking about the single, the band said: “’Trial By Fire’ is one of the more aggressive songs on ‘Night Life’, bridging the gap between our two industrial EPs and the new album.
“Rhys began the demo in Southend isolation, before we got together and twisted it into something meaner. It’s about the curses that follow you through your life. For The Horrors, every day is Halloween.” Check out ‘Trial By Fire’ down below and see the full tracklist for ‘Night Life’:
1. ‘Ariel’
2. ‘Silent Sister’
3. ‘The Silence That Remains’
4. ‘Trial By Fire’

‘Night Life’ will be released following the news of keyboardist Tom Furse’s departure back in 2021. Though he will contribute to recordings, he will not tour with the band, stating that he’s “more of a maker than a performer” in a statement.
The original line-up comprised of vocalist Badwan, guitarist Hayward, keyboardist Furse, bassist Webb and drummer Joe Spurgeon.
The Horrors are due to tour next November, with a show at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art before finishing with a homecoming show at Southend’s Chinnery. It will mark their first shows since their performance at Wide Awake Festival in London’s Brockwell Park in May 2022.
