Diddy may be sitting in a notorious jail facing series charges, but he appears to be in his high spirits — on his birthday, at least.
The embattled mogul turned 55 on Monday (November 4) and while there was no extravagant party this year, he did celebrate it with a phone call from his children.
In a video shared on Instagram, Diddy’s seven kids — Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, twins D’Lila and Jessie, and Love — wish their currently incarcerated father a happy birthday.
Two-year-old Love leads the singalong in adorable fashion, surrounded by her older siblings and a birthday cake with candles (which she eventually attempts to eat whole).
Speaking on the other end of the line from behind bars, Diddy says: “I love y’all so much,” to which his children respond: “We love you too.”
He continues: “I can’t wait to see y’all. I just want to say I’m proud of ya’ll, especially the girls. Thank y’all for being strong and thank y’all for being by my side and supporting me. I love y’all. I got the best family in the world.
“My birthday, I’m happy. Thanks for giving me this call. Thank you very much. I love y’all […] I’ll see y’all in a couple of days.”
The sweet moment was celebrated in the comments section by the likes of Busta Rhymes, BIA and Lil Cease.
Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since September when he was arrested on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
He is likely to remain there until at least next spring after being given a May 5 trial date and denied bail multiple times over witness tampering and obstruction of justice concerns.
The Bad Boy boss stands accused of forcing women — using drugs, violence, threats and blackmail — to have sex with male prostitues for his pleasure over the course of at least a decade.
Prosecutors also allege he ran and was aided by a criminal enterprise that engaged in kidnapping, arson and bribery, among other crimes.
Despite the heinous allegations, as well as those levied in his mounting sexual assault lawsuits, Diddy’s family has continued to stand by his side.
In a joint Instagram post last month, his seven children spoke out against the more outrageous accusations and conspiracy theories against their father.
“The past month has devastated our family,” they wrote. “Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media.
“We stand united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.”
