Mundane Miracle, an Electro-Retrowave artist, shares his recent journey into music-making and how that process is both literally and figuratively reflected in his newest single, “Culmination,” which he wrote and produced himself.

Over the years, Mundane Miracle developed an interest and appreciation for various electronic bands and sub-genres. He pinpoints one song in particular, “I Can’t Feel” by electronic producer Matthew Dear, that sparked his inspiration. What’s more, Mundane Miracle reached out to Dear to share what the song meant to him and to ask for music production advice. To his surprise, he received a response. Dear offered guidance for both creating and releasing music, which catalyzed Mundane Miracle’s journey into electronic production.

As a concealed hobby, Mundane Miracle approaches music-making with a sense of humility and a keenness for mystery. He recognizes that in the music space, it is easy to develop an inflated sense of self, which is something he consciously strives to avoid. He chooses to keep his identity a secret and only a few people know he makes music.

While reflecting on his artistic identity, he traces back the meaning behind his name, "Mundane Miracle," to one day where the words spontaneously came to him, and have since stuck. The name resonated with him as it embodies values that reflect the humility of everyday life and the small miracles we often overlook. For him, the ability to create music is one of those miracles—a personal joy and a creative power he does not take for granted.

Mundane Miracle’s new single, “Culmination,” continues to unfold the reflections on his experiences and values through story and sound. The track immerses listeners in a retro soundscape, featuring distinct 80’s synth elements layered with an eerie, ambient atmosphere. He mentions how fun it was to experiment and bend the beat, melodies, and rhythm throughout it all. He shares that his favorite part of making the song was, getting that "8 bars feeling." “[It's that feeling when those first 8 bars start to lock in, and you feel like you’re onto something].” He shares that after that feeling, it’s like the rest of the song unfolds piece by piece, but it’s that beginning foundation that’s the sweet spot. The “Culmination” of this work creates a subtle hypnotic quality, building and releasing tension throughout the track evoking a sense of transformation and resolve. Like that of his desire to make music and the obstacles that prevented him early on, this song gives us a glimpse into the progression that led up to this point. But as Mundane Miracle gets his bearings in the industry, he clarifies that this isn’t the peak, per se. While it may be a culmination of where he is currently, it’s also only the beginning. He says he’s excited to release a backlog of tracks he’s been working on, so stay tuned!

When asked to share a piece of advice with his fans and readers as a parting sentiment, he said a big thing for him is to just be accepting of everyone. When you invite people in, and be accepting of others, you’ll find so much more meaning in life.
