Features : Jade Latrice Blends R&B with Soulful Melodies in Latest Single ‘Make It Home’

Staff December 02, 2021

CHICAGO - Many artists work for years to develop a soulful voice to resonate with listeners. Jade Latrice is the exception. She was born with a strong expressive voice and a bluesy rumble that grabs your soul and takes you on a musical journey.

At 17 years old, singer/songwriter Jade Latrice is making her name known in the R&B industry as a rising artist whose voice is mature beyond her years. “My voice is unique. It’s like I have one voice when I am talking but a different pitch and tone when I sing,” explained Jade Latrice.

She has a shy and soft-spoken demeanor, but when the microphone turns on and the music starts, a lyrical artist begins to perform with depth, emotion, and profound confidence. “There are many things that inspire me but singing is really a way for me to express myself. It’s an outlet that helps me learn and grow,” she added.

With a seasoned voice mature beyond her years, Jade Latrice connects with young listeners performing cover songs and, most recently, two original singles. After her debut single, “I Like It,” introduced her to the industry, her sophomore single, “Make It Home,” has given her staying power among other young artists as fans relate to her. Singing about growing up with divorced parents, dealing with every day high school stress, and trying to find a place in this world, Jade Latrice reaches fans while giving them hope for the future.

Working with Grammy Award nominee producer TryBishop and Christopher Starr of CSP Music Group, “Make It Home” dropped on all streaming platforms on Nov. 26th. “The song is basically about the uncertainties of love,” she explained. “Going back and forth with myself trying to figure out if you’re the one. But because I’m so quiet, I’m not going to tell him I like him or the thoughts that I’m having. The song represents the ups and downs of love after experiencing heartbreak.”

Jade Latrice and her team are currently finishing the music video for “Make It Home,” which will be released before 2022.

Citing influences such as H.E.R., Summer Walker, Lauryn Hill, and Beyonce, Jade Latrice uses music to deal with her anxiety and events from past traumas. While some people resort to therapy, Jade Latrice picked up a pen and paper and began writing. It is these heartfelt and emotional lyrics that form her songs and connect to her fans.

“Sometimes, you’re not OK. And people need to know that it’s OK to not be OK,” she said. “You need to find what works for you to navigate through this thing called life.” Using her survival and perseverance as motivation, Latrice added, “Every day is a process. You never know what will happen, but basically, just keep pushing through whatever it might be, and it gets better over time.”

With Jade Latrice’s attitude, it’s no wonder she continues to find more success with each single.
