ATLANTA - With a name like Nonchalant, you may think McKenzie Smith, a.k.a. Nonchalant is a laid-back and unemotional artist, but nothing could be further from the truth. Nonchalant uses her cool demeanor to dive into the hip-hop world with a hustler’s attitude that few other artists have.

Growing up in Thomaston, Georgia, Nonchalant was destined for bigger things than the rural small town provided. She moved to Atlanta, where life skyrocketed, setting out to follow her dreams. With a resume of print modeling, attending Georgia State University majoring in biology, and joining the Army National Guard, Nonchalant gives hustling a new meaning. But in addition, she is a rising hip hop artist whose latest single and self-entitled, “Nonchalant,” is burning up on streaming platforms.

Nonchalant brings a different vibe than many other female artists entering the trap rap and hip-hop world. She is a dominant female who knows what she wants - and gets it. The first thing you notice about Nonchalant is her voice. “My voice is raspy and has a little whisper in it, but I’m not screaming at anybody when I perform,” explained Nonchalant. “It’s not too fast and not too slow. It’s balanced.”

That balance shines through in the “Nonchalant” single and music video. The song is filled with rhythmic raps and hooks that give listeners an inside look at Nonchalant, the person and rapper, as she dances in an Atlanta car park atop her 392 Dodge Challenger and shows off her driving skills with some hot burnouts to spice things up. “I have to be different,” she said. “I know how males love to see females, and they don’t think that females will be around cars like this. But I love to dance, and I love cars, so the video is just me.”

That attitude sets her apart and defines why she chose Nonchalant as her name. “I don’t let nothing get to me. I really don’t care what people got to say about me,” she replied.

But what people are saying is that Nonchalant is the hottest artist to hit Atlanta in quite some time. Currently, the music video shot by Champagne and executive produced by BCP Brandon has more than 42,000 views in just a few weeks, proving that Nonchalant is the real deal.

Inspired by Gucci Mane’s work ethic and style, Nonchalant is active in the studio. A mixtape will be released in January with more singles and some killer freestyle tracks dropping. Additionally, Nonchalant is giving fans an inside look at her life. Much like a reality show, Nonchalant is posting vlogs to her social accounts of her everyday activities, such as working toward an upcoming single’s release in the studio, shopping at the mall for show attire, and even simply hanging with friends before hitting the stage.

“I’m big on doing vlogs ‘cuz nobody is doing that, and I know people want to tell the backstory of what’s going on other than coming to the show. They want to see what it takes to be me,” she said.

Striving to be different but always staying true to herself and her talent, Nonchalant said, “It’s part of the game, and I want them to see everything that I got there. People can see that it is not always easy but worth it.”

Make sure to stay connected to Nonchalant on all platforms for new music, videos, and social posts.
