Miss. G has got it going on in the rap world, collaborating with a who’s who of artists on her new album KMIM (Keep Me In Mind), including the opening track “Talk Heavy” featuring Nicki Minaj.

“I’m this classy girl. I’m very girlish and love the nails, the swag, the cars,” Miss. G says. “I smell good. I look good. I’m a professional. ‘Talk Heavy’ is about owning yourself. It’s all about being you.”

Collaborating with someone like Nicki Minaj isn’t something that Miss. G takes lightly. She says Minaj has a certain elegance that she admires, but can also be a little bit hostile, which comes with the territory.

“You can’t be a wimp when you’re battling these men and these women, when everyone is reaching for the same thing,” Miss. G says. “Everyone’s reaching for the stars. A lot of people won’t catch those stars, but if you can, you’ve got to own it. She’s sure of herself and owns what she’s talking about. She’s making moves, and that’s what I like about her.”

The powerful tune was made to jump start the album, which also features renowned artists like Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Cappadonna, Big Twin, Menace, Drizzy Wright, and Juvenile.

“You can dance to it and there’s a little pop to it,” Miss. G. “My words are going to make you bop your head and tap your feet. Wayne, he comes with being more bold. His rap is like, ‘don’t mess with me, because if you do, I’ll come get ya.’ Cappadonna is speaking truth. Speaking life. Speaking reality. And we’ve got Juvenile speaking about being a go getter. Go to work. Do better. He’s making you want to be someone.”

One track that really stands out to her is “Raindrops,” featuring Rihanna. It’s a song that sings right to her, and she feels will do the same to her listeners, as well. Miss. G says she just pictures herself playing in the rain and tapping her feet.

“Everybody loves to play in the rain, even adults,” Miss. G says.

Miss. G calls KMIM a “masterpiece” that she has built with these eight artists who have all succeeded coming from different lifestyles and backgrounds.

“Anyone can follow their dreams if they put their mind and soul, and have God in front of them,” she says. “Anything is possible. I don’t let no one tell me what I can’t do. I’ll do it anyway.”

Marietta Grant, AKA Miss. G, is originally from Chicago but has since called Fort Worth, Texas her home.

She takes pride in her writing skills, saying that since 2012 she has been constantly jotting down notes when she thinks of a sweet hook or line.

“I would just sit on my couch and start writing poems,” she says. “I just kept working on it over and over, and I started noticing I was getting really good at it. Everyday I’d write a poem, or a sentence, and connect them. And I kind of mastered it. It’s been going on and on like that ever since.”

By 2020 these lines made their way into songs, starting off with some impressive singles “That’s Why,” “I Am Me”, “It’s a Party,” and then “Closer.”

In February 2022 she released “Low,” featuring Yukmouth, and then collaborated with Rittz and Beattz on “Trippy” and “Young SocialPath,” which were released the following August. Miss. G even got into some festive holiday music with the release of “Hey Santa” just before Christmas that year.

But it is the past two years have been monumental for Miss. G. She dipped into the romantic love ballad realm in 2023, with the release of “By The Ocean.” That year she released “Will Overcome,” a collaboration with Swifty McVay of D-12, followed by the Rick Ross featured track “Way We Get It.” Last year the singer teamed up with rap legend Snoop Dogg on the hot single “So Fresh,” as well as a high energy track “Chopz” that featured Twista.

Now she has leveled up with this new album, complete with collaborations with some of the hottest artists around. This is only the beginning as the singer/songwriter continues to write tracks that blend genres and push musical boundaries, with powerful messages woven in.

“I’m always writing,” she says. “Every day I write something, just like a music box.”

Miss. G is currently working on a follow up album called “I Can Do It” that will feature artists like Drake, 2 Chains and C-Lo, as well as have solo original songs. She expects it to be finished up by late fall before the holiday season.
