Emerging hip-hop artist, Ethos Fain explores the order in chaos with his upcoming single, “Vertigo.” Cinematic, vengeful, and poetic, the record weaves genres into a completely fresh sound representative of Ethos Fain’s willingness to dance on boundaries.

Residing in Los Angeles, Ethos Fain is challenging the hip-hop scene with his unique take on the art form. His name alone evokes a complex persona ready to challenge and provoke emotion. “Ethos Fain” stems from the spirit of Ethos and the willingness of Fain. “I was thinking what a role model would look like, what their characteristics would be,” shares the artist. “If I could create a persona that could guide anybody in need of their own illumination or courage to make the impossible happen, that’s who I would be for me and to show me the way forward. So, I put the two together and made my own role model, stepping into the shoes myself.”

The development of his sound took place across genres and generations. Ethos Fain grew up on a mixed musical diet that included heavy metal and hip hop. “I loved all of it,” he explains. “It gave me a diverse palate. By the time I explored my tastes, I was into the club hits of the early 2000s and late 90s. My music isn’t a mashup, rather you can tell where I pulled everything from. The vibe and energy are club. The intros give a hollow sound like you’re backstage, giving everyone an inclusive experience. The dark roots stem from my metal side. And hip hop is where I thrive.”

“I have always been able to hold the spotlight,” tells Ethos Fain. “But it wasn’t until later that I learned to respect the art of music for what it was. I was born an actor and storyteller, but I was not born into music. Yet rhythm found its way no matter what.” Growing up on stage, Ethos Fain realized he would have to learn how to sing to partake in the musicals that were the highlight of his local productions. Following a traumatic brain injury as a child, he relied on Guitar Hero to redevelop his hand-eye coordination, which brought him a step closer to music. It was the combination of these early life experiences that solidified his future path.

Learning from mentors, the young artist realized that writing came naturally to him, and writer’s block wasn’t an obstacle to him despite hearing of difficulties from so many artists before him. “I always knew what I wanted to say,” he adds. “I write my story like I would a novel, then I find a beat that matches it. I make the music fit what I have to say.” What started as a coping mechanism and outlet for Ethos Fain would soon become a way of life.

When choosing the right sound to accompany his message, Ethos Fain tends to gravitate toward “cinematic, bold sounds.” He is open to collaboration with new producers while simultaneously developing mutual bonds with those familiar to him. “Having respect for their art keeps me grounded in what I’m doing,” he explains.

His new single, “Vertigo,” is a feature off his upcoming album, A Very Young Entity. “‘Vertigo’ is specifically about finding order in chaos. I was born into chaos. I thrive in it the way most people collapse around it. I would love to teach people there is another way. You were never lost in the storm—you were the storm.”

“Vertigo” combines order and chaos while exploring the personal journey of sobriety. “I felt like substance control had me for too long and there was chaos in not knowing how to fight it. This single stands out on the album because it speaks to my goals as an artist, with finding balance within chaos.”

Ethos Fain’s upcoming album features a diverse range of sound among the seven tracks. “Each song has its own forte that it leans into,” he adds. “All of my music is out for interpretation. I want listeners to find what resonates for them. I don’t want to say how anyone should interpret or take away from my music. It’s about how listeners feel in the moment, which could change as they grow.”
