With her rich, vibrant R&B voice, Wadena is the perfect artist to put out an anthem for strong women that fuses R&B with hip-hop and trap.

And “Glad I’m Over You (Hood Love)” is also her birthday song for Labor Day Weekend 2025.

“It’s the truth,” she said. “People fall in love and then breakup, especially during the summertime because some guys want to explore, cheat and then come back home to cuddle with their main woman. But she’s thinking, ‘Nah. We ain’t.’”

You’re a liar, a cheater, heartbreaker, deceiver
And I’m so glad, I’m over you now
And I’m so done, I’m done with you

It’s a song that can have you grooving in your chair or behind the wheel and thinking, “Nope, not taking crap from anybody today.”

The song is her second since she began a comeback last year with “Smoke-n-Chill," produced by Grammy-Award Winning producer Zaytoven. “Glad I'm Over You (Hood Love)” was written and also produced by Wadena and her sister LT.

It has more defiance behind it than the take-no-prisoners theme of ending a bad love.

“We really wanted to bring the women back in the front for R&B, hip-hop, reggae and trap to let people know that women still got it, because, if you look at the charts right now, men are dominating in that area.”

R&B itself has been falling off for women, with men dominating that area, too, with the likes of The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Party Next Door.

“SZA bought a woman’s voice back in this genre of music, but it’s time for the females to come back up,” she said.

“I mix R&B with hip-hop and trap, and most singers can’t sing R&B over trap like that. I’ve been doing that for a while.”

In fact, Wadena does that in “Glad I’m Over You,” as the singer been doing since “Let’s Get It,” a song she released several years ago.

You can hear that the trap synth is prominent in “Glad I’m Over You,” with Tee Turner responding in defense to her R&B attack lines, but R&B carries the argument. Truly a fun song to listen too.

“It’s a song for women and men who fall in love with somebody, but they keep hurting you, cheating, lying, disrespecting you. For me, I just don’t want to cry no more, so, I just said, ‘I’m done. I’m over you.’ It comes out really sexy because it’s mixing R&B, hip-hop and trap all together.”

For years, she was a songwriter and ghostwriter for top celebrity artists. She has also worked with Richie Cannata of the Billy Joel Band, Rick/Wade Productions and Cove City Sound studios, Eren Cannata, Brendan Keenan and John Arbuckle.

However, Wadena’s career was sidelined for a time because of disputes over ownership and credit for her work with other artists and producers.

“At first, I was just this kid from Long Island, and I didn’t know the business. They saw a young girl who had talent to write and sing.”

Richie Cannata, she said, taught her the music business and developed her songwriting and singing gifts while teaching her “to be tough.”

Recently, Wadena also suffered a personal tragedy with the death of her father on Mother's Day 2025. He died right in front of her.

This was a painful loss for the singer, who is now focused on her music. Her father’s last words were for her to keep moving forward and release new music. She is ready now to continue her return to recording.

Her next single, “Bum Busta,” to be released on September 26, was also produced by Zaytoven.

“People are going to call me a man-basher because the song talks about guys being lazy, ain’t working, they smoking, drinking, playing video games all day and making babies, not taking care of their kids while disrespecting women, and can’t even buy a woman a drink. To all the bad men: Pay for child support.”

She plans more singles and an EP that will be R&B oriented.

“It’s going to be one of the best R&B EPs of all time,” she said.

She has a lot of music she can put out, which includes a re-mix of her “Girl Play” “because I like pop, too, and I do a lot of dance music.”

“I’m looking to take it to the next level, where I’m finally heard, where I’m getting credit for my writing and for my music. I’m looking for that break-through season where the fans get to know Wadena as a singer and songwriter.”

This Labor Day Weekend, with her birthday tradition of putting out a single, is the time for “Glad I’m Over You.”
