If you look past his breakout hit about the slightly offbeat pop star Billie Eilish, it’s clear that Armani White has much more to give as an artist. His latest single, MOUNT PLEASANT., proves it. At first listen, it might sound like something you would expect from The Kid LAROI (we admit, we thought it was the Australian singer too), but it doesn’t take long before Armani’s sharp rap delivery comes through.
The track begins with him showing off his knack for crafting a catchy melody over an acoustic guitar, singing about moving on from a breakup. In the reflective opening verse, he admits how much the split affected him.
"Yeah, I never thought that you could hurt me, uh / I hate the fact that feelings caught me in the first place / And now you makin' plans without me, uh, friends without me, uh / Standin' now, you couldn't stand without me."
Still, he makes it clear that he’s embracing the growth, even if it takes him out of his comfort zone. He explains how signing a record deal and making the leap into stardom pushed him to a place where he could accept both the challenges and the rewards of going solo.
"Okay, I dotted linеs, okay, okay, I signed my fate / I think I'm finally okay with bein' not okay." Some might call it straightforward, but you have to respect Armani White for focusing on stretching his range as an artist.
This song, which also serves as the title track for his new EP, ties his last three releases together. That run includes the Fabolous-sampling collab with 2025 XXL Freshman Samara Cyn, GHOST., along with CUT THE LIGHTS. and TTSO.
