Artist Spotlight: Naitas Blue

For the California-based rapper Naitas Blue, music serves many purposes. One: a career path and possible way out of his current circumstances. Two: a path to meeting his soul mate. And three: a creative way to express his struggles over the past 12 years — and his dreams for the years to come.

We had the privilege of sitting down with Naitas Blue for an intimate conversation on music, meaning, and evolution.

FreshMusicWorld: Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics and melodies?

Naitas Blue: My inspiration comes from the point where I’m at in life. I feel like I’ve learned a lot had plenty of time to myself just thinking putting all the pieces together so I would say my surroundings and time.

FreshMusicWorld: Have you ever had a dream to inspire a song or an album?

Naitas Blue: I guess not I try to inspire young adults also trying to put the pieces together.

FreshMusicWorld: Have you experimented with different genres or styles in your music?

Naitas Blue: I have but not to much I may throw in some reggaeton in but I keep Afro beats in everything that I do.

FreshMusicWorld: What’s your favorite part of the recording process?

Naitas Blue: My favorite part is the mixing it’s a long process trying to find that perfect sound but when you do actually get it you feel so complete.

FreshMusicWorld: What was the most rewarding part of working on your latest project?

Naitas Blue: Most rewarding part would be finishing the album in less than a week I felt like I worked very hard in such little time.

FreshMusicWorld: What message or theme do you hope listeners take away from your latest work?

Naitas Blue: Like I said I do it for young adults trying to put the pieces together.

FreshMusicWorld: How does your latest project reflect your growth as an artist?

Naitas Blue: Much more complex, much more stories to tell in more of a way that you can still vibe out to it and still get that I can play this song every day and not get tired of it feel.

FreshMusicWorld: How important is it for artists to have creative control over their work?

Naitas Blue: I think it’s very important I’ve been in situations like that and to me I feel like I can’t work under certain circumstances like that.

FreshMusicWorld: How do you continue to improve your musical skills and knowledge?

Naitas Blue: By just doing what I’ve known to do best and be the best version of me I can be.

FreshMusicWorld: What’s one thing you wish you had known when you started?

Naitas Blue: No matter how much you put into something it may never come but it’s always a possibility it’s all about timing.
