Artist Spotlight: SAMM!

SAMM! likes to write songs that reflect her feelings, and she fell in love with the beat that became “In My Feelings.” It was a vibe for her.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or just discovering their work, this Q&A offers a rare look into the mind and heart of SAMM!.

FreshMusicWorld: When did you first realize you wanted to be a musician?

SAMM!:
Around the age of 7, by then I was performing, playing instruments, in broadways, dance lessons, acting lessons, gymnastics & competitions, I did a lot. I was drawn to music, and I knew then that’s what I loved and wanted to focus on.

FreshMusicWorld: What was the first song you ever wrote, and what inspired it?

SAMM!:
Too Deep, which I will be releasing next year, inspired by myself, love, loss, self-reflection, and realisation.

FreshMusicWorld: What challenges did you face early in your career, and how did you overcome them?

SAMM!:
Not giving up, when something doesn’t seem to ‘work out’, I work through it. Believing in myself.

FreshMusicWorld: Who was your first major musical mentor, and what did you learn from them?

SAMM!: My older Brother Charlie, he was creator an Artist. He taught me to never be a ‘sheep’. He was so fearless.

FreshMusicWorld: What’s the story behind your favorite song you’ve written?

SAMM!:
Alice, unreleased also. This is a mindtrip song, I got inspiration from The Never Ending Story & Alice in Wonderland, it’s all about self-reflection and how your mind can play tricks on you.

FreshMusicWorld: What’s something about you that fans might be surprised to learn?

SAMM!: I was
born in Australia, my mum is Asian/Spanish, and my dad is English.

FreshMusicWorld: Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics and melodies?

SAMM!:
Past experiences, stories, movies, poetry. It’s a mixture.

FreshMusicWorld: Have you ever had a dream to inspire a song or an album?

SAMM!:
Of course, that dream has become a reality. I’m living it now.

FreshMusicWorld: How do you stay motivated to keep creating music?

SAMM!:
Creating because I love, not for any expectation.

FreshMusicWorld: How do you stay connected with the messages and themes in your music?

SAMM!:
Everything I wrote, I’ve experienced, so I can relate pretty easily, as my songs are my thoughts.
