Welcome to SOUND ADVICE, Interview’s weekly home for playlists created by our friends, foes, and occasional flings. Over the past few weeks, we have spotlighted playlists from LSDXOXO, Allie X, and Bugonia composer Jerskin Fendrix. This time, we pass the aux to Copenhagen’s resident It Girl Maya Laner, the former bassist for Caroline Polachek and past member of the synth-pop group Porches. Last month, performing under her solo alias True Blue, she stepped away from the bass and headed straight for the dance floor. Although she has previously released tracks such as “I Wanna Believe,” “Truest of Blues,” and a Cocteau Twins cover, Star Witness, her debut full-length project, offers her clearest artistic direction so far. Naturally, we were curious about what she has on repeat these days, so we asked Laner to put together a playlist for us (below) and respond to a few pressing questions, including: who holds the title of Queen of Pop, and what exactly does one wear for the apocalypse?

Where do you dance? Anywhere I can hear a beat.

The world is ending. What are you wearing? Pink.

Are you spiritual? Yes.

Sunglasses indoors: yes or no? Commit to your bit, babe.

What’s your dream? My life!

Who do you trust most with the aux? My man Nature Boy, or my sister Avalon Lurks.

What’s your #1 rule for the club? Dissolve into total unselfconscious freedom.

If you were a color, what would it be? Chartreuse.

Describe Star Witness in 3 words: Truer than true.

Dream collab: living or dead. David Lynch.

Who’s the Queen of Pop? Madonna.

Who’s the Princess of Pop? Britney.

Which song on this playlist makes you cry? “How Can I?” by Mark A Mitchel.

What gives you star power? A miniskirt / my sensory autism.

What do you desire? An apple-headed chihuahua and a red light therapy mask.

What song on this playlist reminds you of your childhood? “Obvious” by Oklou.

Kitten heels, stilettos, or pumps? Pump sun, stiletto moon, kitten heel rising.

Which song on this playlist do you wish that you wrote? “Only Tomorrow” by MBV.

Naming your guitars: yes or no? No.

Name an artist that deserves more hype. Weirdly me.
