9 years ago, one of the most memorable performances on The X Factor UK was a simple song called “Friday Night.” The artist? A fun-loving, Prague-born, London-based DJ named Beck Martin.

In his X Factor introduction, he was asked, “What brought you here?”

Beck Martin: I had goals and dreams and I was sort of chasing them.
Simon Cowell: What’s the song about?
Beck Martin: It’s about Friday night.

His successful audition—described online as the “best X Factor audition in history, ever”—carried him to a prestigious opportunity to open the X Factor Finals in front of 10,000 people. Now, Martin is back with a new song, “It’s About Friday Night.” Fans of The X Factor performances will find the song to be a fresh take on familiar themes.

The track opens with Beck Martin’s spoken introduction from 9 years prior, with a new and polished techno-pop dance track foundation. Also new is a female vocalist who delivers a catchy hook:

I’m living that good life
There is nothing that is gonna bring me down
I’m feeling those good vibes
I’m gonna dance up on the speakers, blow ‘em out

The song, a collaboration with DJ Asym, was recorded in London at Metropolitan Studios. The production is slick, bringing major-label sheen to a song that began as spontaneous fun on reality TV.

The serious approach is paying off. The reboot reached number 7 on the UK Dance Charts, driven by a promo campaign that put the track into the hands of clubs and DJs across London. Clubs, DJs, and house remixes kept the track pumping on dance floors, with club-goers responding to the song’s simple message and big Friday night energy.

Martin says, “I think many fans remembered my X Factor audition, and the phrase ‘nothing’s gonna bring me down’ really resonated.”

In addition to the dance floors, the song is also resonating online. The music video for “It’s About Friday Night” currently has more than 300,000 views on YouTube. Directed by Jarod Parker, it was shot in multiple London locations, from dance clubs to Canary Wharf. It features Beck Martin, DJ Asym, Grace Darling Smith, and Emily Carol Mahon dancing, drinking, playing cards, and generally “living that good life.”

With 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify—and climbing—Beck Martin is ready for liftoff. His influences range from David Guetta, to Scooter, to Nicole Scherzinger, reflecting ambitions that were big from an early age.

Growing up, Beck Martin’s mother worked at Supraphon, the legendary Prague-based record label, where stories of aspiring artists submitting demo CDs left a lasting impression and inspired him to pursue music seriously. With “It’s About Friday Night,” Beck Martin is making those dreams come true.

Fans can expect a new track soon, currently titled “Summer Dream.” The song is planned for good-time summer vibes. Think tropical, energetic, Ibiza-style club music. Martin’s larger vision is to make music that gives people energy all around the world.

He says, “I want to create music that energizes people—especially for environments like gyms and festivals—and continue building a global audience.”

With his current single, Beck Martin is doing just that, keeping the party going for dance music lovers and everyone looking to keep that Friday night energy going the whole week long.
