JimJimZero is an EDM artist from San Diego, California that loves to get people on the dancefloor. However, his number goal is to bring them happiness and positivity when they hear how melodic his music is. His latest single, “Ghosted,” is a unique track that tells of one of the most common situations in a digital world but does it through a surprising method.

JimJimZero described “Ghosted” as a “sad song with a dance beat.” It’s a progressive house/pop track and the direct emotional contrast is what separates it from anything else in the genre. Being ghosted is something many people have been through and he wanted to explain that feeling to people while also making the song danceable.

“The song is sung by a female vocalist from the perspective of the person who got ghosted. I wanted people to understand how that felt since it’s something that happens in the dating world. However, the song is danceable because I wanted to experiment with different emotions.” he said.

Contrast is a strong theme across JimJimZero’s musical background. While he was originally in a duo, the music they were putting out did not always truly resonate with him. He found himself compromising and settling with his partner which led to their duo disbanding. Now that he is a solo artist, he has found a new sense of pride and fulfillment from the music.

“I can call the music I make now 100% my own. I wasn’t as emotionally bonded to the music I was making back then. But now I am and it feels different when I play it. Having full ownership of it makes me feel better about playing it.” he said.

Having an emotional bond with the music was the catalyst for JimJimZero’s music career. He first decided he wanted to pursue this path after attending EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) in Las Vegas. Upon seeing all the happiness, unity and joy people had, he knew he wanted to provide people with the same feeling. However, with his music, he wanted to focus on the melodies. By doing this, he ensures people listening have a strong emotional connection and response to them.

“My music is all about having a good time and being happy. The melodies within it are what make people happy. Other EDM artists focus on drums, dubstep, hard techno and things like that. My music has a retro vibe with the melodic aspects at the forefront with the music still being danceable.” he said.

JimJimZero has more music coming but first he’s going to debut some of his music at a party where he’ll be DJing. By being both a producer and a DJ, he gets to play the music he has created and see how it affects people in a party centric environment. He’s already built an online fanbase and has seen people dancing to his music. Now, he wants to expand to the local scene to see and share the happiness and joy his music brings in person.
