Dr. LaMotta Roundtree, aka Music Man Ph.D, is a busy man. But he is not too busy to give back.
His new single, “Heartbeat of the Heartland,” is dedicated to the working men and women of America. And it is for them as well: all profits from the song will be donated to humanitarian causes. For Music Man Ph.D, this just makes sense, because his love for the world is real.
This is the heartland of America
Where the roots run deep
And the sound of country stars shine bright
Where the American anthem is true
And our love is real
He says, “I did this as an anthem, because we need to get back what we let go—and what we’ve lost.”
Music Man Ph.D worked with a UK music studio to produce “Heartbeat of the Heartland.” He sent them the plan for the song, including lyrics, key, genre, drum beat, and tempo. They produced the track and sent it back.
He found this working relationship so efficient that he worked with the studio to produce an astounding 200 songs. The producer of all the tracks is Lorraine J. Roundtree, to whom Dr. Roundtree has been married for over 30 years.
Dr. Roundtree is a true renaissance man. He holds two doctorates, in philosophy and humanitarianism. He studied drums in a music conservatory. As a working drummer in Chicago in the 1970s and 1980s, he drummed and programmed drums for greats from James Brown to George Benson. He owns a TV station and a radio station, Heartbeat Radio. He is a pastor.
But though he is busy, he wants to use his talents to spend time giving back, both at home and abroad. Through his music, he wants to connect with the world. He has songs in dozens of genres, from country, to gospel, to K-pop.
Although he knows only one man can do so much, he wants to help heal the pain and suffering in our world. From politics, to marriages, to just getting along with our neighbors, he knows that living in love and peace is an intentional daily affair.
To that end, he is donating all profits from “Heartbeat of the Heartland” to humanitarian development. He says, “That money is not going to the bank. I’m changing prosper into prosperity. Prosperity becomes the blessing so it can be the blesser.”
Originally from Chicago, Music Man Ph.D is now located in Las Vegas. But he has friends all over the world, from England to Korea. He thinks the good things in the world belong to everyone, saying, “This is our paradise here on earth. And it’s for all of us.”
