Artist Spotlight: Charlton Graham

The 22-year-old aspiring pop singer, based in the famed music city of Memphis, Tennessee, is making the music of his dreams. Those dreams are of kings and princes, angels and changelings, dragons and full moons.

This conversation with Charlton Graham reminds us why true artistry never ages — it only deepens.

FreshMusicWorld: How would you describe the elements that define your sound today?

Charlton Graham:
The elements that define my sound are having the strong desire to express my creativity as a musician and to pass on the vibe of an epic songwriter.

FreshMusicWorld: How do you approach evolving musically while maintaining consistency in your work?

Charlton Graham:
My belief is that the more music I make, the more potential I have to make even better high-quality songs that showcase my unique artistic identity and creativity.

FreshMusicWorld: Have there been any recent shifts in the way you think about your sound or style?

Charlton Graham:
Not necessarily. I believe that I still like to utilize my music as a place to showcase my ability to be creative and tell stories, and connect with a potential fan base through storytelling, and to create the epic feeling of the nature of life.

FreshMusicWorld: What influences your decisions when experimenting with new musical ideas?

Charlton Graham:
I have a great belief that if I were to become a true star in this industry, this is how I want to be remembered.

FreshMusicWorld: What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned navigating the music industry?

Charlton Graham:
What I learned is that if I truly want to break into this industry and allow my dreams to fully come true this is the kind of place where only exceptional talent and luck will allow you to win, and no one will hand you success, but having talent along with resources can be the next best thing.

FreshMusicWorld: How do you balance creative priorities with the practical realities of releasing music?

Charlton Graham:
I just believe that my unique, creative, artistic vision, in its own little way, can be used for something that is marketable.

FreshMusicWorld: What skills have become more important to you as your career has progressed?

Charlton Graham:
I believe in improving my vocals/voice as an artist.

FreshMusicWorld: How do you evaluate which opportunities are worth pursuing?

Charlton Graham:
I believe that it depends a lot on how you view yourself and what you see yourself doing in life and what you potentially think you are capable of doing in life that is better for you.

FreshMusicWorld: What was the focus or intention behind your most recent release?

Charlton Graham:
The main focus was to express my creativity as an artist and to identify myself as a unique pop singer.

FreshMusicWorld: How did the creation of this project differ from your earlier work?

Charlton Graham:
My latest release focused a lot more on storytelling, and the previous album was more about creative, metaphorical ways to connect with an audience.
