Kiara Garcia is a singer, songwriter and producer from Las Vegas, Nevada that loves making music that makes people happy. Her song, “Obsessed,” is a playful pop love song that’s upbeat and catchy. It comes from her new album Ocean Pearl which compiles tracks that tell a story while still keeping everything lighthearted, creative and fun.

The song “Obsessed” is about someone being way too into someone else whether it's romantically or platonically. Kiara takes a flirty and fun approach to it which places the song comfortably in the pop lane. It has an intentional place in the narrative of Ocean Pearl and is meant to be the song that people latch on to and vibe with right away.

“When I was looking at the songs I made, I realized these songs tell a story. I like my albums to be like a storybook and have a natural flow to them. I want to have songs that not only tell my story but are relatable for people as they go through different seasons in their lives.” she said. As a songwriter, Kiara sets herself apart by incorporating both English and Spanish into her music. Having bilingual music across her discography showcases who she is inside and outside the music.  There’s also a certain level of difficulty when writing bilingual songs sometimes but for her, it’s worth it.

“Incorporating Spanish and English into songs is challenging sometimes but it’s also fun. I always feel like songs are more fun when they have both and it allows me to connect with the Spanish audience too.” she said. Kiara was naturally drawn to genre blending within her music. With a love for reggaeton, hip-hop, pop and r&b, she often finds herself using multiple elements from each genre. It comes naturally to her as she loves listening to them and wants to continue making music that showcases that.

“I got exposed to multiple genres from listening to this huge CD and cassette rack my Mother had. She actually still has it today. There were so many different genres there and I was drawn to a lot of them. So now in my own music, I like to do unexpected things and genre blend so when people hear it, they are surprised.” she said.

By producing her own music, Kiara is able to bring whatever is in her mind to the page and the speakers. She’s been singing since age 14 and by 18, was working with producers who were talented but did not always get exactly what she wanted. She was encouraged by her mother to start self producing and she went on from there.

“When I’m producing, I’m looking for how I can make the song emote the most. I’m making sure I tell a story while keeping my presence in the song.” she said.

There’s a strong throughline between songwriting and producing for Kiara. It benefits her creative process with her being at the helm of both. She gets her ideas out as they come and can work through them in real time.

“I love songwriting and producing. So when I’m doing one, my mind is usually automatically doing the other. It’s a seamless blend for me creatively. But, if I had to choose, singing is my favorite because I can play the songs I produced.” she said.

Kiara’s music is layered but still fun and catchy. Her love of music is undeniable anytime someone hears it. “I like making music that makes people happy and I feel accomplished when people feel joy.” she said.

“Obsessed” from Ocean Pearl by Kiara Garcia is available on streaming services now.
