ST. LOUIS - According to most streaming platforms and major info companies like Nielsen, hip hop music is the most popular genre in the U.S. Coupled with the rise in Christian music, the two genres have skyrocketed to everyone’s playlist. Combining hip hop and Christian music is pure gold - and that is what Starrtrynea Reeves has done.

As a mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, and musician, Reeves focuses on herself and answering a call from God to bring her music to life and share it with others. And fans are rejoicing in the newly discovered Reeves, whose voice is velvety smooth with just enough edge to grab your attention.

Taking inspiration from Christian hip hop artist Lecrae, Reeves said, “I can bring gospel to everyone and combine it with hip hop. We have both genres, but no one is tapping into gospel and hip hop to fill that void of them together, especially no female artists.”

While Reeves has a set of powerful pipes and knows how to seize listeners, she is quite modest when asked about her singing abilities. “Let’s just be honest; I really can’t sing. I just don’t believe that I can, but I have faith in me and the energy to produce hit music,” she stated.

Her modesty directly results from her faith and simply putting her life in God’s hands to mold and direct her singing. Reeves said while driving home from work, she heard the call from God to sing. Reeves thought her singing days were over since she had released a few singles years ago. Heeding the call, Reeves wrote and recorded her latest single at her studio, 82-0 Starkat LLC in St. Louis.

The single “Give Me Up To The Sky” is an in-depth personal conversation between Reeves and God that results from her past days of caring for her siblings after her mother’s death and learning to live and love herself after a long battle with alcohol. “I am calling on Him to please help me. I feel now that I’m so transformed and living a totally different life thanks to God,” she said. “That’s why I said, ‘give me up to the sky,’ because the sky’s the limit. I’m asking God to take all of me, and now all’s well with my soul.”

Destined to be a significant hit across multiple genres, “Give Me Up To The Sky” is more than just a Christian hip-hop song. It is a tribute to Reeves’ perseverance and life journey. It is soul-full music with a purpose. “I’m just an average person with a desire to produce music and bring forth music,” she explained. “I have it in me. It’s in my soul. I can’t leave it alone.”
