Seventeen-year-old Tiara Melaja is more than a young artist from Houston trying to get her music out — even if she’s too modest to say otherwise. Packing a punch with vocals equally soulful and playful, the teenager is a powerhouse singer-songwriter on her way to widespread success.
Born and raised in Houston, Tiara Melaja is a student and a musician. While she says she has “no real singing experience aside from choir,” the young artist is mature beyond her years in both character and sound. Music came to Tiara at a young age. In fact, she started singing as soon as she could talk. Influenced by her favorite artists including Mary J. Blige, India Arie, Billie Ellish, and Adele, the teenager practices her craft every day.
Melodic and poetic, the young artist’s songs are entirely her own. Tiara loves writing music; there’s nothing about the songwriting process she doesn’t like. When she sits down to write a song, the musician first selects a beat and then crafts the lyrics that speak to her. Next thing she knows, she has a hit on her hands ready to make its way to fans.
Her first EP, “Remedy,” features the single of the same name. Tiara Melaja’s music can best be described as a blend between R&B and pop. According to Tiara, her album is “a mixture of everything.” One track in particular, “Out of the Blue,” took her the longest to write yet came together seamlessly. The lead single, “Remedy” reminds listeners that “sometimes you love somebody so much you need a remedy to get you through it.”
When she first heard the album come together, Tiara was equally excited and grateful. “It sounded really good, how I imagined and wanted it to be,” says the artist of that special moment. With support from friends and family, the young artist is looking forward to growing her fanbase locally and around the world.
This year, she’s setting the foundation for live performances and hopes to partner with an agent to evolve her musical career. She is currently producing music under the label MHP Entertainment and publishing with FredRich Publishing. In the near future, Tiara’s goal is to make her way onto the Billboard Charts. With a voice and talent like that, she undoubtedly has a shot of topping it.
