VANCOUVER, WA – Throughout 2022, the rapper and producer GOOD OMEN has been releasing a series of singles leading up to his Spring 2023 album The Waking Dream. The Waking Dream will be a dark, story-driven album which uses horror-inspired sounds to speak to how he overcame teenage alcoholism and reached sobriety.

So far, GOOD OMEN has released two singles “Grave Diggn & Bone Pick’n” and “SNAP YOUR KNECK”, which respectively open and close the album. These singles reach deeply into the pain that causes someone to spiral, finding the willpower necessary to escape a bad situation.

His vocal production and beats feature haunting sounds similar to that of clipping., Death Grips, and Gravediggaz, using bloody imagery to express the difficult feelings of anguish and despair. GOOD OMEN seeks to use music to help those currently battling teenage alcoholism, offering them catharsis from pain, and encouraging them to find meaning in their lives.

“What I seek to do is tell people that you can still do great things in life,” he says. “That no matter what you’re going though, you can still get out of it.”

For GOOD OMEN, music has always been tied to the act of overcoming.

GOOD OMEN had fell into a lot of trouble growing up, becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol in the aftermath of a bad relationship. In this time, his only healthy outlet was that of music. He used music as a tool to help express the pain he was feeling, eventually having it become a part of his journey towards healing.

Now sober, GOOD OMEN uses music to reflect upon what he has overcome. He uses music to help others in similar situations develop the meaning and relief necessary to stay alive. Music is tied to his life’s mission to help others find their own mission and overcome hopelessness.

His early musical influences growing up were those in soul music and in golden era hip-hop such as MF DOOM, ODB, KRS-One, The Sugar Hill Gang, Mos Def, Ice Cube, and Cee Lo Green. As he became a rapper himself, he became a close fan of $uicideboy$, resonating with the anxious themes found in their music. He developed his horror-inspired sound from there.

“I’ve been working endlessly night and day in the studio, sleeping there sometimes, trying my best to perfect everything and get better and better. I am learning how to make music speak volumes beyond simple words,” he says.

On “Grave Diggn & Bone Pick’n”, GOOD OMEN raps about the bad relationship which had led to his alcohol addiction as a teenager. His lyrics delve into the betrayal, confusion, and aftermath that happens after a person cheats, as well as the hopelessness that makes someone need to drown their sorrows.

Paired with a ghostly beat, GOOD OMEN uses the metaphor of the graveyard as a place for him to sort through his problems. He says, “I wanted to express what I’ve been going through. I talk about how I got in and out of my problems on the song. My music video has a body bag in it to show how I need to dig graves in my mind.”

The song ends with GOOD OMEN reflecting on how far he has come, now that his problems are sorted through: ‘Yeah don’t make me say it again / Been through all the snapping necks, way off the edge / A new plateau been just traveling, but now I just sit back and dig bone picking until I meet my ends.’

The single “SNAP YA KNECK” responds to those in his life currently addicted to drugs, motivating them to find a source of meaning to escape their problems.

Its lyrics target those currently navigating a dark path, warning of its danger: ‘All you kids / Drugged out no wish or goal in this life wasting skin time and your ends / No meeting for you just a pit / You fall in won’t come out of it’. The single seeks to redirect these teenagers towards other forms of relief, such as the head-banging excitement of music.

“I hear about all these kids doing drugs, living in a bullshit world. I’ve seen it first-hand. Been through it too. They need to see themselves and enjoy themselves in different ways. I want to show them my journey and how I turned these feelings into music,” he says.

“That good music makes you bang your head so hard you might need a neck brace.”

Now, GOOD OMEN is excited for the upcoming release of his album. “It’s got a good bounce, with a bit of old school and new wave,” he says. “Its ideas are about bringing dreams to reality.”

He has also been working on releasing merchandise under the name G.O.I. “GOOD OMEN INTERNATIONAL’. He will be releasing jewelry, baggage, shirts, pants, and jackets online under this name in the future.

Soon on October 31, 2022, he will release the single “Kreep’n”. Two previews of the release are currently available on his YouTube. Later, on December 31, 2022, he will release the standalone single “No Satisfaction”, with its own teaser currently available on YouTube as well.

Outside of music, GOOD OMEN enjoys meditating, camping, riding his motorcycle, and connecting himself with the earth. He is inspired deeply by family, happiness, and the joy of life.

He thinks out loud, “I don’t really know where I’m headed, but the best you can do right now is just go with the flow.”

Be sure to stay connected with GOOD OMEN on all platforms for new music, videos, and social media posts.
