Up-and-coming indie singer-songwriter, Nathalie Tye, releases her latest single, “72 Hours.” Coupling infections tunes with relatable narratives, Nathalie Tye uses music as a platform to connect with listeners. “I want to be able to emotionally relate to my listeners. The stories I tell are very personal and come from an emotional place. If I can help anyone or relate to anyone, that’s my goal.”

Based in southwestern Ontario (Canada), Nathalie Tye blends alternative and indie music in a style uniquely her own. “I had a hard time fitting into one genre so this single is more pop-rock with an edge to it. The lyrics are more on the melancholy side, but it’s an upbeat song,” shares Tye. “It started with just a title and me just writing funny things about friends of ours and situations with them. Then it turned into something totally different. The lyrics, the melody, the song writing—they all went hand in hand.”

For Nathalie Tye, music takes on a deeper meaning. “I want the song to be relatable in different ways. For me, it came from specific relationships, but for anybody else, it could be relatable in terms of break ups or that kind of relationship. I want to be able to make relatable songs to lots of different people in different ways, not necessarily based off one situation.”

Traditionally, Tye develops songs that are based on her vocals and piano playing. For this single, however, she wanted a faster, upbeat, more rock-inspired record. With assistance from her producer, Nathalie Tye helped turn a soft piano opener into a modern rock song.

It’s no surprise that Natalie Tye grew up with music. From playing several instruments at a young age—participating in jazz bands and singing alongside her sister as a duo—to singing in her church choir, Tye immersed herself in song from an early age. Along the way, “life got busy,” and music took a backseat. The pandemic was a turning point for Tye, who realized her priorities and view of life had changed along the way. She took the opportunity to get back into writing and playing piano, and it all progressed from that point—leading to “72 Hours,” the first of this year’s scheduled releases.

Up next for Nathalie Tye is her album, which is finished and ready for debut later this year. “Writing the album was therapy for me for the past 10 years. Music writing is a newfound relief that I don’t plan to get rid of—I don’t think a therapist could do the same thing for me that music has.”

Make sure to stay connected to Nathalie Tye on all platforms for new music, videos, and social posts.
