MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Life pulled Memphis singer/songwriter Vasha away from music eight years ago, but he’s coming back with a latin flair and snappy beat with the single “Ride With Me,” set for release on March 31, 2023.

“I’m so excited for it, this is my debut single for this new adventure,” Vasha said. “I haven’t released anything since 2014. It feels amazing to get back into it. I think a lot of people have known how serious I am about music and that I've been writing and they’ve been saying when’s he going to release something? It’s finally the time and I've been waiting on this day. It’s cool to have friends, supporters just pushing for it and I'm excited to reach out to new people and have a product to push.?

“Ride With Me” is a fast-moving track with a latin feel that tells a story of going on dates and living life. Vasha said the song wasn’t inspired by any specific person or happening, but it was a song that fit his mood when he wrote it.

“It doesn’t matter if it was the first date or the millionth date,” Vasha said. “It was more or less living in the moment, just you and I and nothing else matters right now, but let’s do this and as the night progresses, stay with me and let’s hang out or I can take you back home and we can maybe see each other next time?”

Vasha said he was a musician earlier in his life, playing hiphop and heavy metal with a band.

“I was born in Memphis. I started music by learning how to play the guitar that my grandma bought me,” Vasha said. “I learned everything on my own, I started from learning Blink 182 songs and then before I knew it I was in a heavy metal band playing shows in my senior year of high school all the way to learning how to rap and leaving that to do my own stuff.”

Vasha said he lived in Dallas for a while and life pulled him away from the music scene.

That music he created until about 2014 sat online until recently when he decided to delete it and start again with a clean slate.

“I was working for restaurants and I was trying to grow with a certain restaurant,” he said. “I went to Dallas and got distracted with music. I wouldn’t say I fell off, but definitely took a long hiatus and just built my sound more to what I liked. I was finding my voice and finding the genre I wanted to go in. I really wanted to go into more of a pop kind of singing with a hiphop background.”

Vasha said he’s excited to see how people react to “Ride With Me,” and the video he plans to release a week or so after the song drops on all platforms.

He said he has several new songs recorded, mixed and mastered and is looking to release a new single about every three months or so.

“I feel like now the times have changed to where a lot of people don’t listen to a full album anymore, you don’t have their attention for very long anymore especially if you’re an up and coming artist,” Vasha said. “My process, I was thinking about every three months I'd drop a single, that would be four songs a year and could put some money into it and spend some time promoting it.”

Follow Vasha on all social media platforms and watch for “Ride With Me” to be released on all streaming platforms”
