When They See Us star Jharrel Jerome may be killing it on TV and film screens, but the actor has also been perfecting his skills on the mic.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (August 23), the Bronx native shared a snippet of a new song and announced the release of his new project, Rap Pack.
“There’s more to life than just money and women/Well, hah – that’s funny, I’m kidding,” he raps in the snippet. “What a lovely tradition, but I’m 24 I make dummy decisions/I got a lot to learn but honey, I’m stuck in detention.”
Rap Pack is set to arrive on August 30 via Sony Music. Pre-save is available now here.

Earlier this year, Jharrel Jerome starred in Boots Riley’s acclaimed Amazon series, I’m a Virgo, alongside Mike Epps and Olivia Washington. Virgo, also known as Cootie, (played by Jerome) is working to cultivate a normal life as a 13-foot Black man. He served as an executive producer on the series as well.
The 25-year-old has also starred in 2016’s Moonlight and voiced an alternate universe Miles Morales in the 2023 film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
And as far as his rap career, he’s certainly not the first actor to cross over into making music. In 2021, wrestler-turned-blockbuster movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spit a quick set of bars on Tech N9ne’s ASIN9NE album alongside Joey Cool and King Iso. The song itself has all three rappers spitting their verses with a rapid-fire delivery which has The Rock attempting to do the same.
“It’s about tribe, it’s about power/We stay hungry, we devour/Put in the work, put in the hours and take what’s ours/Black and Samoan in my veins, my culture bangin’ with Strange/I change the game so what’s my muthafuckin’ name (Rock),” the six-time WWE champion rapped on “Face Off.”
