Timbaland has previewed a hard-hitting new collab he has in the works with Conway The Machine, which will appear on his forthcoming Textbook Timbo EP.
On Wednesday (August 30), the legendary producer took to Instagram to announce that he’d be dropping off the project’s first single with his longtime collaborators Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake on Friday (September 1).
However, afterward he previewed a new track with the former Griselda rapper, while adding that he is “coming like a thief in the night.” “It’s getting spooky!” Conway commented.
Check out Timbaland’s post below:
Timbaland first announced that he’d be reuniting with JT and Nelly Furtado for a new single earlier this month. Titled “Keep Going Up,” it marks the trio’s first full collaboration since “Give It to Me,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007 for two weeks, and appears on Timbaland’s second solo album, Shock Value.
The super producer’s latest track comes during a tough period for Timbaland, whose longtime rhyme partner Magoo died earlier this month at the age of 50.
“This one hits different long live Melvin aka magoo !!!” Timbo wrote on Instagram alongside throwback video of the pair performing together. “Tim and Magoo forever rest easy my king.”
Originally formed in 1989, Timbaland & Magoo initially met when they were teenagers while growing up in Virginia, and decided to form a rap group soon after.
The pair are best known for their aforementioned hit “Up Jumps Da Boogie,” which topped Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart and also peaked at No. 12 on the Hot 100.
As for Conway, his debut link-up with Timbo comes shortly after he dropped off his latest album Won’t He Do Itearlier this year. Unfortunately, Conway was forced to cancel the album’s coinciding tour as a result of a fractured tibia, which he announced to his fans on Instagram back in May.
“The results are in,” he wrote with a facepalm emoji. “I have a Fractured right tibia, dislocated kneecap, ANNNNND the album of the year tho!”
He continued: “But In all seriousness tho, anyone that knows me knows there’s nothing I love to do more than bein up on that stage! I can’t lie I’m super disappointed that I have to postpone the WHDi tour for a little bit, because I was really looking forward to goin on those stages and rocking this WHDI shit for y’all live. However I am in good spirits and I’m only looking at it as just a minor lil setback for a MAJOR COMEBACK! No stress!!”
