Chrissie Hynde has shared her “personal highlights” of 2024.

The Pretenders frontman shared a whole list of her favourite things of the year and one of them was seeing Taylor Swift perform at London’s Wembley Stadium as part of her ‘Eras’ tour over the summer.

Listing her favourite live show she said the concert was “beautiful and inspiring”. Hynde also drew attention to Ukraine rock band Okean Elzy’s performance at The Forum in the capital.

She went on to hail Mark Lanegan‘s London tribute show earlier this month which she performed at alongside Queens Of The Stone Age‘s Josh HommeDepeche Mode‘s Dave Gahan and Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie.

The former Screaming Trees frontman, QOTSA collaborator, grunge icon and solo pioneer passed away in February 2022 at the age of 57.

Elsewhere, she praised the film Conclave starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow.

She wrote: “I’ve seen it in the cinema 3 times already. Gorgeous thriller. Definitely one for the big screen. Breathtaking visuals and much more.”

NME awarded the movie four stars and said: “While Conclave isn’t a hardline take down of an institution that has been beset by scandal this century, including cover-ups of sexual abuse by priests, it does acknowledge that the Church has much to do to modernise.

“What results is a film that both works as a finely-tuned thriller and a meditation on the Church’s place in today’s society. More robust than similar films like The Two Popes (2019) and We Have a Pope (2011), Conclave is a perfect winter warmer.”

Hynde recently spoke out about asking that fans who purchase tickets to multiple concerts don’t take up space in the front row so “local” fans have a chance to be up front.

The post didn’t go down well with fans, who took to social media to argue that fans who pay for freestanding tickets should be able to watch the show from the front row if they so please.

In response, she doubled-down on her stance: “The other thing I said which seems to have caused offence in some quarters is when I asked that anyone who has seen more than a few shows, move back out of the front row and let the locals have the front.”

She continued: “I will reinstate that we love to see people come back for more, but we travel the world to play to a new audience each night, so it’s good to see the locals up front. Come one and all… but be fair!”

Swift meanwhile, recently wrapped her all-conquering ‘Eras’ World Tour with the final show in Vancouver on December 8the highest-grossing tour of 2024 – beating off competition from ColdplayBruce SpringsteenThe Rolling StonesMadonna and more.
