Jeffrey ‘Nothing’ Hatrix, a founding member and former vocalist of American metal band Mushroomhead has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
The news was first shared on social media via his daughter Mea, who has launched a GoFundMe campaign in order to aid in her ailing father’s treatment. She wrote on the campaign page: “My dad has recently been diagnosed with cancer, just months after losing my mom to the same thing. Due to this, he may have to stop working during his treatment. Anything means everything, Thank you.”
Hatrix later reposted her GoFundMe campaign on Facebook, writing: “I really wanted to keep this to myself. I was diagnosed a couple months ago. It will be very hard to continue working with the treatment path I have chosen. Thank you for anything you can do to help. I know everyone is going through a lot.”
Neither Jeffrey Hatrix nor his daughter Mea have revealed the type of cancer he has been diagnosed with, nor what stage the cancer is in. Hatrix’s wife Stacy died in April last year at the age of 38 after a long battle with cancer.
Jeffrey ‘Nothing’ Hatrix was a founding member of Mushroomhead and served as the band’s vocalist between 1993 to 2018. Following his departure from the band, Hatrix has gone on to file a lawsuit against founding drummer Steve Felton for unpaid royalties and alleged copyright infringement. He filed the lawsuit in August 2024 and is seeking $3.5million in damages.
