FreshMusicWorld: How did you get started in the music industry?
David: I got started in the music industry in middle school, started making mix tapes, hip hop was at it prime in the early 90's
FreshMusicWorld: What challenges did you face early in your career, and how did you overcome them?
David: Just like most artists, trying to break into the business, get my foot in the door. Alot of highs & lows. Money & time waisted, second guessing my self. I overcame these optacles because if anything I knew for sure, was that I have a great ear for talent, my passion and resilience.
FreshMusicWorld: What’s the story behind your favorite song you’ve written?
David: Im not a writer more like a independent A&R/ excutive producer. I work with alot of very talented artist, producers, engineers & mixers. But my favorite song would be Crashin Out. It was so funny, I actually had 3 different artist before Tayzzy.
All of them was unable to create the vibe I was looking for. I met Tayzzy from The Los Angeles Film Scool. I told her about the track and the concept. I told her I need you to come up with some lyrics, you got sound like your kinda drunk and you are arguing with your love entrance. She was like "Ah ok" she actually said that she was not sure about the beat. But I was like trust me, let me cook!. I then reminded her about The Notorious B.I.G. and how he felt about Juice at first and thats one of his biggest hits. 20 mins later she calls me and says I got it!!! I love pushing the boundaries of creativity.
FreshMusicWorld: Have there been any pivotal moments or turning points in your career?
David: Definitely, dealing with everyday life, trying to make something out of nothing. Wondering if this is even possible or is it just a pipe dream. So many set backs
FreshMusicWorld: What’s something about you that fans might be surprised to learn?
David: I was born with very bad ear infections and didn't start hearing until I was 2yrs old. I had no rythm growing up lol but I could here things that most ppl would not catch, and just had to harnesses my abilities. After going to school for music production is when I found my rhythm.
FreshMusicWorld: What legacy do you hope to leave with your music?
David: I want my name to ring bells. I want ppl to know my name and that I bring nothing but masterfully crafted songs together.
FreshMusicWorld: What’s the most significant change you’ve seen in yourself since starting your music career?
David: The most significant change that I see in my self is my confidence in my self. After receiving a Bachelors degree in Entertainment Business & Associates degree in music production. I know exactly what im doing and trying to accomplish. Education was the key
