Steven Knight has described the forthcoming Oasis Live ’25 Tour documentary as “phenomenal”, saying it will give fans a closer and more personal look at the band’s highly anticipated comeback.
The Peaky Blinders creator is working as producer on the project, while Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace are directing. The pair are best known for the LCD Soundsystem concert film Shut Up And Play The Hits. Filming captured Oasis during rehearsals as well as planning sessions before the tour, offering a behind the scenes glimpse of the Gallagher brothers as they prepared to perform together again.
In an interview with Project Big Screen, Steven revealed the current version of the documentary is around four hours long and already stands out.
He said: “It’s phenomenal.
“We’ve got it down to four hours, so we’ve gotta get it down to [a shorter runtime].”
He also explained that the project is more than just a tour film and has a strong storyline running through it: “It’s a documentary with a plot, do you know what I mean? It’s actually got a story. And then we’ve expanded it… you’ll see when you see it.”
Steven also shared that speaking with Liam and Noel Gallagher produced exactly the kind of moments people would hope for.
He said: “They’re just one quote after another. They’re just so funny.”
Noel has only watched small sections of the documentary so far, but from what he has seen he already feels confident about how it will turn out.
He said backstage at this year's BRIT Awards: “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it, and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets.
“Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”
The production team also encouraged fans to contribute their own memories connected to Oasis for possible inclusion in the documentary. A message shared on oasis-film.com invited fans worldwide to send in personal stories linked to the band’s music, whether tied to relationships, difficult times, personal loss or defining life moments.
The Live ’25 tour represented Oasis’ first live appearances in 16 years. It began in Cardiff on July 4 and featured Richard Ashcroft and Cast as special guests. The band later played shows throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The reunion marked their first time sharing the stage since their split in 2009, which followed a backstage dispute between Liam and Noel Gallagher at Rock en Seine in Paris.
