Alex Warren has pulled out of a scheduled concert at the last minute after becoming "bedridden sick".

The Ordinary hitmaker was due to take the stage at Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand on Monday evening.

However, only a few hours before the Finding Family on the Road show was due to start, Warren shared an update on Instagram explaining that he was too ill to perform.

"I never have to do this and it breaks my heart to even write this but I have to cancel tonight's show," the 25-year-old wrote. "I have tried everything to be able to make this show work and I'm sadly bedridden sick at the moment. I can barely talk let alone sing and it sadly isn't possible to play tonight's show."

Warren also expressed his appreciation to those who had supported him and attended the concert.

"I understand what it takes to be able to attend concerts and the fact so many of you travelled for this one has made this decision even more difficult. I love you so much and hope you understand," he added.

Fans holding tickets will be issued refunds automatically.

Frontier Touring confirmed in a separate statement that the Fever Dream singer-songwriter had been advised by medical professionals not to perform because of his condition.

"Alex is devastated to miss the show and has been looking forward to performing for his Auckland fans. He sincerely thanks fans for their understanding and support," the promoter said.

Warren is currently expected to return to the stage in Sydney, Australia on Friday.

His second studio album, Wildchild, is also scheduled to arrive this week.
