Dermot Kennedy has officially etched his name into the history books, becoming the first Irish solo artist to reach Number 1 with each of his first three studio albums.
The Dublin born artist claimed the top spot this week with his third project, The Weight of the Woods. The release follows his 2019 debut Without Fear and his 2022 album Sonder, giving him a flawless run of three chart topping records. His newest album has not only performed strongly on streaming platforms but has also led physical sales, reaching Number 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and topping the Official Record Store Chart as the most purchased release in independent UK stores.
Chart Climbers and New Entries
In other chart news, Harry Styles continues to hold strong. His fourth album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., which is already the biggest album of 2026 so far, moved up two spots to land at Number 4.
The impact of Coachella is clearly being felt. Ahead of her upcoming headline performance at the festival this weekend, Sabrina Carpenter saw her former Number 1 album Man’s Best Friend climb 14 places, returning to the Top 10 at Number 9.
British artists are also making their mark higher up the chart. Arlo Parks earned her third straight Top 40 entry with Ambiguous Desire, which debuted at Number 11. The release follows the success of Collapsed in Sunbeams and My Soft Machine, reinforcing her presence within the UK music scene.
The Rodrigo Renaissance
The biggest conversation this week, though, centers on Olivia Rodrigo. After announcing her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which is set to arrive on June 12, listeners have returned to her earlier releases. Both GUTS (21) and SOUR (22) have seen a noticeable boost in streams and sales as excitement builds around her upcoming London inspired era.
