BAHAMAS - As a rising hip hop artist, VK da General has a lot to say, and it begins with his single, “Top of the World.” Standing out from other artists, VK is on a mission to push “positive music out with the positive energy that will make you think before you do something wrong.”

While VK is a household name in the Caribbean hip-hop scene, he is coming for the U.S. and the rest of the world. VK was surrounded by Caribbean sounds growing up, but VK loved hip hop. As a youth, VK saw himself in Notorious BIG. Additionally, VK was inspired by Tupac, Jay Z, Snoop Dog, and DMX. The music legends helped VK form the entertainer he is today.

When VK flows, his voice draws the listeners into a strong yet velvet odyssey, with lyrics that evoke a variety of topics, whether it be love, positivity, or something harder. His Bahamian accent almost disappears, and listeners can believe his voice could originate anywhere. “Every time I rap, I slip into a character. A different song has a different vibe and how you feel,” he explained.

The energy-packed “Top of the World” is a musical masterpiece inspired by its lyrical hoops and booming beats. The track focuses on success and fulfilling your dreams. VK pays homage to great men and women who came from humble beginnings to make history when no one expected them to succeed. Names like Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, and President Obama make the final verse one that leaves listeners nodding their heads, knowing VK speaks the truth.

As VK’s velvet voice booms, “Top of the World” drips with energy and positivity. The song’s intense pace and violin lines make it truly unique. When asked about the music, VK said, “It’s for all the underdogs who had a dream. Once you dream it, you can achieve it. There’s no limits.”

Adding to “Top of the World’s” perfection is the music video filmed in New York City. Showing off the skyscrapers, luxury cars, and the city’s bright lights, the “Top of the World” video represents VK’s journey into hip hop.

The Bahamian native reminds everyone that the Caribbean is a hotspot for exceptional hip-hop talents. “We are here. A lot of people have been sleeping on Caribbean artists, but they don’t realize the greatest talents come from the Caribbean,” he said.

Those talents were showcased in a Tempo Network Television documentary entitled “Hip Hop Origins.” Educating viewers on hip hop beginnings in the Caribbean, VK was the show’s host for season one’s eight episodes.

“This is just the beginning,” said VK. “You will soon see my name everywhere you go. On every radio station you listen to because the key to success is being positive about anything you do or doing, say that prayer, put God first in life, and everything else will follow.”
