HUNTSVILLE, AL - Everyone is looking for that special thing that makes them unique and different from others. Southern rapper Recxless has found a home for his crunchy, angry, and old school beats - but do not put a label on it.

“My name speaks for itself. I’m reckless,” said Recxless with his rugged and rough voice. “I don’t have a specific genre. I’m all over the place; I don’t have a set sound. “I’m not a pop star. I’m not a rapper. I am an artist - a true artist.” That artistry is getting noticed for risky lyrics and pain-filled vernacular.

Released on Real Recxless Entertainment, “Trip To The D” is a mixtape showcasing Recxless at his best. “I was drawn to the music scene in Detroit. So, I took a trip out there. I met a lot of dope artists,” he said. “It inspired me to make ‘Trip To The D,’ ‘cuz their sound is so much different than everywhere else in the world.”

The twelve-track solo mixtape brings the heat from the first track and never stops. The vibe is upbeat and ready for any dance club or cranking out your car speakers. “Trip To The D” is a rap lover’s dream.

Paying homage to Detroit and the entire state, Recxless wrote “Michigan.” The single is considered a bonus track since it was dropped before the mixtape’s Jan. 13 release. With rhythmic raps and a drill-like delivery, Recxless does not hold back with his explicit takedown of “Michigan.”

“Everybody’s got a story. Everybody’s different, and I don’t tell my story like everybody. I try to make relatable music,” he said. “It’s all about how well you put your book together, and people want to read it. But they can’t be me; I’m me and different.”

Taking inspiration from Juice Wrld and NBA Youngboy, Recxless believes much of today’s mainstream music is “watered down. It’s not authentic. I feel like a lot of it is based on popularity, not the actual talent, not the actual soundtrack. The music is supposed to trump all. My music on the expectations and the wants and needs of those listening.”

Recxless is the whole package. In the studio, he’s a producer who is active in mixing and mastering his music. Having control of his music, he ensures every song represents who and what Recxless is. “Depending on the song and music getting played, I hope every song I make touches everybody in a different and special way,” he explained. “They are not alone. Somebody else is out there dealing with what you are.”

Perhaps the best way to understand Recxless’s music and style are to remember his name. “I’m reckless. I try to stay on a good path (but) at the same time; I still do bad shit. It’s like one foot in and one foot out, but it’s my way of life,” he said.
