Once upon a time, a notorious space pirate was sucked into a black hole vortex that gave him the power of radiation and sent him back in time, depositing him on planet Earth. Here, he travels the globe performing hit electronic music stolen from his future time and place.
His name is RadWulf.
He has recently released a popular EDM song called “Down” and will soon release a couple more, “Addicted” and “Coming Over.” The ultimate goal, befitting a radioactive galactic time traveler, is to take his brand of EDM “to the ends of the universe.”
“Down” is fun EDM that involves the bloodstream in the music. When it was released, it quickly ran up hundreds of thousands of streams and, said Rad, tens of thousands more in places like Brazil.
He said “Addicted” is an ode to the fans who turned on to “Down.”
“I’m addicted to the support that my fans are giving me. I’m addicted to giving the creative content, and I want to be the Rad that they’ve helped me become.”
“Coming Over,” he said, “is just a really fun-sounding song that I thought my fans would enjoy. I definitely took more of a pop approach for this one because I’m really aiming toward radio plays.”
The radio angle is an element of the plan for the overall RadWulf foundation myth.
“I definitely want RadWulf as a project to be narrative driven,” he said. “That's where I want to separate myself from other artists. I don't just want to put out music and cross my fingers that the audience will like it. I want to give them a story. The world today is just so thirsty for creative content that is good, especially when it encapsulates all your senses, what you hear, what you see, what you feel. If I can get a story behind those three aspects, I’ll make it something that's fully immersive, whether it's a live performance, or an animated show that my audience can stream.”
The plan involves not only the epic galactic travel story, but the stage performance, in which RadWulf is masked and wearing special “radiation goggles,” two Xes in LEDs. The Xes — like the cartoon representation of death – are an homage to Deadmau5, who RadWulf says played a large role in creating his passion for EDM.
““Currently, there's a whole trilogy behind RadWulf’s narrative that we’ve just begun animating. The plan is to sprinkle new music inside the animations and give a teaser of what is to come. But that's a whole nother story.”
In the plan, each part of the trilogy will correspond with an album.
RadWulf has been making music since childhood, when he played by ear a variety of classical instruments before shifting into rock ’n’ roll. He now plays guitar, bass guitar, piano, ukulele, banjo, harmonica, drums and others. When he was first producing music, he says, it was “somewhere between a hip hop sound and an alternative rock sound, because I love both of those influences.”
In college he would “goof off on the computer, working on these little EDM sounds,” learning how the various music plugins worked, figuring out what the various EDM artists were doing.
He spent many years honing in on his music and video production skills and experimenting with a variety of genres and styles. “But it wasn’t until I started playing with synthesizers and other electronic elements that people began to take a significant interest in my sound. That’s when I knew I had something worth putting out.””
By the end of 2020, RadWulf had decided to give it everything he had in order to create and share his unique Rad narrative with the world.
“Our team has been hard at work creating the next level of creative content for the Wulfpack — RadWulf fans — and we are extremely excited to share it all with you in this new year,” he said.
In addition to new music and visual content for the new year, Rad will also perform at more global festivals and events while on his Galaxy Tour.
