Rosalía avoids listening to her albums once they are released because doing so feels like “torture”.

The Latin music star is known for her perfectionism and could spend endless hours making adjustments to her recordings. Her attention to detail was even reflected in her 2025 album LUX, with the digital and vinyl editions featuring different versions.

Speaking to CBS Sunday Mornings, she explained: “I couldn’t keep making changes for too long, because otherwise it would never end.

“I could literally spend forever working on it.”

When asked whether she still notices things she would like to change after an album comes out, Rosalía admitted: “Absolutely, all the time. Maybe the mix needs adjusting, the violins could be half a dB louder, or I might think I should have recorded another take of my vocals.”

Despite constantly spotting potential improvements, she makes a point of leaving her music alone once it has been released.

Rosalía explained: “I never listen to my albums because there’s no point.”

She continued: “I make music to share it with people and then let it go.

“Why would I go back and listen to it? That would be torture!”

Rosalía recently collaborated with Irish indie band Fontaines D.C. on their Dopamine Chamber track Where Is Gone?, and her links to Irish rock music extend beyond that partnership. She also helped develop the Spanish lyrics for U2’s The Mirror Maker (Rosalía), which is set to feature on their forthcoming album Carnaval de Luz.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she discussed how the collaboration came about, explaining of U2 frontman Bono: “I don’t know him personally, but he sent me a text telling me he had this new project and a song called The Mirror Maker.”

Rosalía joked that Bono had invented some words while working on the song.

She recalled telling him: “I’m not sure, but you can always make up your own language.”

The opportunity to contribute to a project with the 66 year old rock icon was a particularly special experience for the singer.

She said: “Bono is a legend.

“It’s incredible.”

Bono recently revealed that he had been concerned about appearing like a stalker when reaching out to Rosalía to ask whether he could name the song after her.
