1501 Certified Ent. CEO Carl Crawford has apologized to Megan Thee Stallion for their public beef.
As reported earlier, the former MLB player and the Houston rapper have been at odds since 2019 which stemmed from the fact that Megan apparently signed a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation without the label’s knowledge. Afterwards, Meg filed a lawsuit against 1501 and accused the defendants of signing a bad contract with very limited opportunity of negotiating.
Meg claimed that the label continuously blocked her from releasing new music but ultimately, a judge granted her a temporary restraining order that allowed her to drop her album. She filed another lawsuit against 1501 in February 2022 asking a judge to declare that her 2021 project Something For Thee Hotties qualified as an album and hence fulfilled her contractual terms. The label countersued a month later, with Crawford calling the project a “bullshit ass mixtape.”
The legal battle isn’t over but Carl regrets fighting with Megan publicly and is apologetic for it.
“Me and Megan, we haven’t talked since 2019,” he told TMZ. “We’ve been going through, I guess, what you guys see online and it’s unfortunate because I never wanted to have a situation where I was going back and forth with her on the internet.”
“I never had any problems with Megan Thee Stallion. It’s just the social media stuff, it turned really, really sour. You take this social media part out of it, we don’t have a problem … I’m done with that.”
He continued, “You not gon’ hear me mention Megan Thee Stallion name in the media unless I’m doing something like this. You not gon’ see me texting or making a post or doing any of that stuff that would cause social media to go crazy.”
Carl also addressed linking with Tory Lanez in a club last year. He calls it petty and says that he doesn’t have a real relationship with Tory like that.
