Cardi B pulled up to the 2026 Met Gala in a custom look by Marc Jacobs and instantly had everyone talking. As expected, reactions were split depending on who you ask.

She stepped out in an oversized sheer gown layered with black lace, featuring sculpted padding that expanded her shoulders and rounded out the lower half of the silhouette. Social media wasted no time weighing in. One user on X wrote, “I need to hear more from the designer because right now all I see is lace covered intestines.”

That is pretty typical for Met Gala discourse. Cardi fully committed to the theme, and the reactions ended up being completely divided.

She paired the look with custom pink knee high Marc Jacobs platform boots, finished with red laces running up the front. While they were mostly hidden on the carpet, they were spotted earlier as she left her hotel.

This marked Cardi’s seventh Met Gala appearance, and once again, she made sure it was anything but subtle. That reputation clearly continues.

It is also worth noting that Cardi shared she was feeling under the weather and dealing with a fever while attending. Even so, she still delivered one of the most talked about moments of the night, which feels very on brand for her.

The Marc Jacobs design drew inspiration from the unsettling doll work of Hans Bellmer, which explains the distorted and exaggerated structure throughout the gown. The sheer black lace sat over a nude toned base, with pops of lavender, coral, orange, and pink subtly showing through.

The upper half featured dramatically broadened shoulders, while the bottom flared outward into a rounded, almost animated shape. Her boots matched the theme with an inflated toe, a chunky platform sole, and a curved block heel.

Cardi kept her glam minimal with slicked hair and a soft pink lip, letting the outfit take center stage. Love it or hate it, the look definitely did its job and got people talking.
