Barry Manilow has cancelled additional Las Vegas residency shows as he continues his battle with lung cancer.
The “Copacabana” singer shared that his medical team advised him not to perform this month.
At 82, Barry has not returned to the stage since revealing in December that he had been diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer.
After previously cancelling February shows, along with his arena tour launch and April residency dates, the “Mandy” hitmaker took to social media again with an update.
“Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I’m making great progress and look great. Well of course I do! Thank you very much! All the training and exercising I’ve put in is paying off,” Barry wrote in an Instagram Story.
“He did say, however, that I’m not quite ready for Vegas. That means I won’t be able to return for our May shows.”
The legendary performer added that his prognosis is positive and he expects to be ready for his upcoming UK arena dates.
“But the good news is he said I will be ready for my June arena shows in the UK,” he wrote.
“It’s going to be great to see you all in the UK. Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home… and I’ll see you all in July. In the meantime… come to the UK! We’ll be there in June and hope you will be too! See you then… Barry.”
Barry has also admitted that the waiting process has been difficult.
“I am still not there yet… I’m not totally healed,” he told The Times in an interview published at the end of March.
“The doctors said that it would take a while, but I have no patience and waiting is agony.”
